channel

channel is a skill for Claude Code from karvidsson/agent-ptt. It costs 0 tokens per session (374 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A command for listing, creating, and switching voice channels in an agent command-line session. A channel is a named room used to separate conversation or announcements.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for selecting a voice channel, creating a named room, or returning to automatic channel selection.
Why use it?
It keeps session communication directed to the intended room and prevents one session's choice from changing another's.

Runs only inside its plugin — its command needs a path that Claude Code sets for a plugin’s own hooks and for nothing else. Install the plugin, not this.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00000 $0.00374
Opus 5.5 $0.00000 $0.00150
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00000 $0.00075
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00037

Security

Grade A, and why

channel scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 19d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Manage the current session's Agent PTT channel by running:

python3 "${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/scripts/channel.py" $ARGUMENTS

Examples:

/agent-ptt-voice:channel list
/agent-ptt-voice:channel create Release War Room
/agent-ptt-voice:channel use Release War Room
/agent-ptt-voice:channel auto

create and use find or create the named room, then select it only for this CLI session. The script reads AGENT_PTT_SESSION_ID, CODEX_THREAD_ID, or CLAUDE_SESSION_ID. If unavailable, pass the actual current CLI session ID with --session-id <id> --agent Claude (or Codex). Never invent an ID or substitute a project name: it must match the ID supplied to that CLI's announcer hooks. If the actual ID is unavailable, explain that selection requires it.

The choice is stored under ~/.agent-ptt/session-channels/, isolated by server, CLI source, and session ID. It affects subsequent hook events and manual say commands without restarting. It never changes another session's channel.

auto clears the explicit choice for this session. Without an explicit choice, the Git main checkout name determines the channel, including from subfolders and worktrees; outside Git, the current folder name is used. The room is reused or created automatically. Old global channel settings in announcer.env are ignored.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

channel is a skill published in the GitHub repository karvidsson/agent-ptt (2 stars, last pushed 18d ago), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 374 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-28.
