e2e-remote-setup

e2e-remote-setup is a skill for Claude Code from kellykampen/agent-skills. It costs 167 tokens per session (2,507 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A setup for running end-to-end tests of an Electron or other graphical app on a remote Linux machine. It uses a virtual display so the app can open windows without taking control of your computer.

In plain words
What is it for?
It prepares a remote test command, copies the project there, installs its dependencies, and runs the suite in a virtual screen. Use it for Electron Playwright tests or other browser-driver tests that open real windows.
Why use it?
Local graphical tests can grab your mouse and keyboard, and some test environments cannot run the full app without a display. Moving them to a remote machine keeps your work undisturbed.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00167 $0.02507
Opus 5 $0.00084 $0.01254
Sonnet 5 $0.00033 $0.00501
Haiku 4.5 $0.00017 $0.00251

Security

Grade A, and why

e2e-remote-setup scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (templates/run.sh), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Remote E2E setup (crabbox + E2B)

Turn a focus-stealing local E2E suite into one that runs on a remote headless Linux box. Electron E2E (Playwright _electron.launch) opens a real OS window that grabs mouse/keyboard on the dev machine — there's no local headless display for a full Electron app. This skill wires up crabbox to lease an E2B sandbox, rsync the working tree, install deps, and run the suite under Xvfb (an in-RAM X display), streaming results back. The developer's local focus is never touched.

The end state is a single command:

pnpm test:e2e:remote # runs the E2E suite on a remote box, no local focus stealing

When to use / not use

  • Use for a suite that boots a real GUI app locally (Electron via _electron.launch; any Playwright/WebdriverIO suite that opens a non-headless window). Also the right tool when local CI can't run the GUI suite and you want an on-demand remote runner.
  • Don't use for already-headless browser tests (playwright test against headless Chromium runs fine locally/in CI) — there's nothing to offload.

Prerequisites (check first, install/guide as needed)

  1. crabbox CLIcrabbox --version. If missing, tell the user to install it (it's the orchestrator that leases the sandbox, rsyncs, and execs). The skill assumes crabbox is already available on the machine (it was, in the source project).
  2. E2B account + CLIe2b --version; auth via e2b auth login. E2B is brokerless, per-second billing, fast boot. The run reads the team key from ~/.e2b/config.json (never passed as a CLI arg — see run.sh).
  3. A runnable E2E script in the target repo (e.g. test:e2eplaywright test). You will wrap THIS command; find its exact form (check package.json and, if present, the CI workflow's E2E step — mirror that recipe so remote == CI).

Setup steps

Copy the three bundled templates into the target repo and adapt them. All live under this skill's templates/ directory.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
