swift-adaptive-layout-pro

swift-adaptive-layout-pro is a skill for Claude Code from kelvinkosbab/AppBootstrapAI. It costs 111 tokens per session (1,195 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A review skill for Apple apps that checks whether screens and windows adapt to resizing, different device shapes, and foldable layouts. It covers SwiftUI and UIKit, Apple's two main user-interface frameworks.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to audit iPhone, iPad, Mac Catalyst, and foldable-ready layouts, including size classes, safe areas, hinge regions, resizing, and state continuity.
Why use it?
Fixed screen assumptions can cause clipped content, unsafe controls, or lost state when a window resizes or a device folds. The review identifies these layout and launch-configuration problems.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00111 $0.01195
Opus 5.5 $0.00044 $0.00478
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00022 $0.00239
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00120

Security

Grade A, and why

swift-adaptive-layout-pro scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 69 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Review Apple app code for resizable-window and foldable readiness. This is the deep-review companion to the always-on apple-adaptive-layout.md rule — the rule steers while writing; this skill audits whole screens and the project's launch configuration. The Apple sibling of android-adaptive-layout-pro. Report only genuine problems; don't nitpick.

Applies to SwiftUI and UIKit (including Mac Catalyst). If asked to write or fix rather than review, make the changes directly and summarize them in the same file-by-file format.

Review process:

  1. Check launch and resizability posture using references/readiness-checklist.md — the UIScene lifecycle mandate, UIRequiresFullScreen, Info.plist and project settings, SDK level.
  2. Audit layout branching using references/size-classes-and-idiom.md — size classes vs idiom/orientation, UIScreen.main and global geometry, which containers already adapt.
  3. Audit foldable-specific behavior using references/duo-and-poses.md — arrangements, hinge and reserved regions, safe-area asymmetry, state continuity across fold and resize.

If doing a partial review, load only the relevant reference files.

Core Instructions

  • Launch blockers outrank everything. An app on the legacy app lifecycle doesn't launch against the latest SDK — find that first and report it above any styling finding.
  • The unit of adaptation is the window, not the device. Any idiom check (userInterfaceIdiom == .pad), orientation check, or UIScreen.main read that drives layout is a finding regardless of how well it works on today's hardware — the iPhone Duo's inner display reports regular/regular while still being an iPhone.
  • Assume resizability is on. Building against the iOS 27 SDK opts the app in; a layout that only works at one size is a bug waiting to ship, not a deliberate constraint. Flag the fixed-size assumption and whatever depended on it.
  • A fold or resize is a configuration change. Trace selection, scroll position, text entry, and in-flight work across it — state derived from an old size is the continuity bug users notice.
  • Prefer the system containers. Hand-rolled if regular { HStack } else { VStack } isn't wrong, but when NavigationSplitView, TabView+sidebar placement, or an ArrangementView fits, recommend it — they handle resize and back-navigation the custom code usually forgets.
  • Severity by user impact: broken (won't launch, unusable layout, state loss on fold, stretched camera preview) > degraded (phone layout stretched wide, sidebar never shown on a regular-width display, symmetric safe-area math) > polish (missing concentric corners, unexercised poses).
  • Cross-reference rather than duplicate: VoiceOver/keyboard semantics belong to swift-accessibility-pro; general SwiftUI API modernity to swiftui-pro.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

swift-adaptive-layout-pro is a skill published in the GitHub repository kelvinkosbab/AppBootstrapAI (7 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 111 tokens to every session and 1,195 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-11.
