audit-analytics

audit-analytics is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from kensaurus/cursor-kenji. It costs 70 tokens per session (1,373 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for checking product analytics: the events an app records about user actions, how they are named, and whether they fire at the right time.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to review tracking in tools such as PostHog, Amplitude, Mixpanel, or Google Analytics 4, and to propose a consistent event list.
Why use it?
It helps prevent misleading dashboards caused by missing funnel steps, duplicate events, or data being recorded before the user gives consent.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00070 $0.01373
Opus 5 $0.00035 $0.00687
Sonnet 5 $0.00014 $0.00275
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00137

Security

Grade A, and why

audit-analytics scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 138 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

audit-analytics — Product-event instrumentation

Degree of freedom: HIGH — judgment on taxonomy and funnel coverage. Consent-gate proof is [LOW freedom] when you confirm the SDK does not init on boot (quote the init site; do not invent a legal opinion).

Read-only. You verify the app measures what the business needs to decide, with one taxonomy, without leaking PII or firing before consent.

The failure mode is silent: the dashboard looks populated, but the key funnel step was never instrumented, so every decision on it is guesswork.

Present findings. Propose a canonical taxonomy. Do not rewrite events until approved.

This skill vs neighbors

Skill Owns
audit-analytics (this) Event coverage, naming, consent-gated firing
plan-privacy-compliance Legal data-flow + store labels; run both when consent is in play
data-visualization Charts/dashboards as UI — not whether events exist
iterate-post-launch What to fix next from existing prod signals
audit-ux-journeys Task completion / IA; may recommend this skill when funnels are blind
workflow-feature-flag Flag rollout; not event taxonomy

Do not fire for "build me a chart" → data-visualization. Do not fire for "GDPR / privacy labels" alone → plan-privacy-compliance (then come back here for the event matrix).

How to reason

  1. Observe — quote the track() / schema name and where it fires
  2. Interpret — can the business answer the funnel question this event claims to answer?
  3. Classify — missing / dead / duplicate / phantom / PII / consent-before-init / correct
  4. Severity — key-funnel step never fired, or analytics before consent = P0

Worked example

Observe: signup success fires signup_completed on web and Signup Success on iOS; PostHog inits in layout.tsx before the consent banner. Interpret: the funnel splits across two names; EU visitors are tracked before consent. Classify: taxonomy split + consent-before-init. Severity: P0 for consent; major for the name split. Finding: Signup Success | duplicate name | unify to signup_completed; init → plan-privacy-compliance + gate behind consent.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

audit-analytics is a skill published in the GitHub repository kensaurus/cursor-kenji (9 stars, last pushed 7d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 70 tokens to every session and 1,373 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
