ccc-pro-migration

ccc-pro-migration is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from KevinZai/commander. It costs 24 tokens per session (520 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A database-migration scaffolding pack for changing schemas while an application remains available. It supports staged changes, large-data backfills, verification, rollback planning, and migration checks for tools such as Drizzle and Prisma.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to plan expand-and-contract migrations, rename columns safely, build chunked backfills, create indexes with reduced locking, and verify schema changes after deployment.
Why use it?
It reduces the risk of table locks, failed deployments, inconsistent data, and difficult rollbacks when changing a live database.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00024 $0.00520
Opus 5 $0.00012 $0.00260
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00104
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00052

Security

Grade A, and why

ccc-pro-migration scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What this pack will do

  • Generate expand-contract migration plan for any schema change (add → backfill → switch → drop)
  • Scaffold zero-downtime column rename: dual-write phase → backfill → cutover → cleanup
  • Generate zero-downtime index creation scripts (CREATE INDEX CONCURRENTLY patterns)
  • Scaffold large-table backfill runner: chunked updates with rate limiting and progress tracking
  • Generate migration safety checklist: lock acquisition risk, rollback path, estimated duration
  • Scaffold blue-green schema deploy with feature-flag gate
  • Add migration CI gate: blocks deploy if migration is unsafe (table locks, missing rollback)
  • Generate rollback scripts alongside every forward migration (auto-paired)
  • Scaffold data type coercion migrations: int→bigint, varchar→text, nullable→not null
  • Add foreign key deferral strategy for large cross-table migrations
  • Generate Drizzle ORM migration wiring (schema push + migration file management)
  • Generate Prisma migration wiring with shadow database support
  • Scaffold multi-database migration sequencing: primary + replicas + read-replica lag checks
  • Add post-migration verification queries: row counts, null checks, index health

Why Pro-only

Zero-downtime migrations are one of the highest-risk operations in production databases. The wrong index creation or column rename can lock a production table for minutes. The patterns here represent hard-won production experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, and SQLite at scale — not documentation copy-paste.

Coming in v4.2

This skill is scaffolded. Full implementation ships in v4.2. Sign up at commanderplugin.com/pro to get notified and receive early access.

Tier check

This skill checks isPro() from commander/cowork-plugin/lib/license.js before running. If your license tier is starter, it surfaces an upgrade prompt and exits cleanly — no partial scaffolding, no silent failure.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

ccc-pro-migration is a skill published in the GitHub repository KevinZai/commander (6 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 24 tokens to every session and 520 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
