security-audit

security-audit is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from KhaledSaeed18/node-express-boilerplate. It costs 53 tokens per session (735 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A security review checklist for an Express API, a web service built with the Express Node.js framework. It checks login tokens, request-forgery protection, traffic limits, security headers, input checks, secrets, and dependencies.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it for a project-specific security audit, a hardening review, or a release check of an Express API.
Why use it?
It helps find security weaknesses before release without changing the code during the review. Findings are reported by seriousness with references to the relevant file and line.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00053 $0.00735
Opus 5 $0.00026 $0.00367
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00147
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00073

Security

Grade A, and why

security-audit scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 53 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Audit the codebase against this project's security architecture. Report findings ordered by severity with file:line references; do not change code unless asked.

1. Authentication & tokens

  • JWT access/refresh tokens must be delivered as signed HttpOnly cookies (src/services/auth.service.ts, cookie options in the auth controller). Flag any token exposed in a JSON body or non-HttpOnly cookie.
  • Cookie flags: httpOnly: true, secure in production, sameSite set, correct maxAge matching token expiry.
  • Refresh-token rotation: refresh must invalidate/replace the old token, never extend it silently.
  • protect middleware (src/middleware/auth.middleware.ts) applied to every non-public route; 401 for unauthenticated, 403 for authenticated-but-forbidden.
  • Ownership checks in services: a user must never read/update/delete another user's records (check every repository query filters by userId).

2. CSRF

  • doubleCsrfProtection applied to all mutating routes (POST/PUT/PATCH/DELETE) in every file in src/routes/.
  • Token endpoint GET /auth/csrf-token must not itself be state-changing.

3. Rate limiting & headers

  • Every route group attaches a limiter from src/middleware/limiter.middleware.ts; auth routes must have the strictest limit.
  • helmet and CORS configured in src/app.ts; CORS origin must come from config, never * with credentials.
  • trust proxy set correctly so limiters key on the real client IP.

4. Input validation & output shaping

  • Every POST/PUT/PATCH route has a Zod validation middleware from src/validations/.
  • Params/query used in queries (ids, pagination) are validated, not passed raw.
  • Services map entities through toResponseDTO() — flag any handler returning a raw Prisma entity (risk: leaking password, token hashes, internal fields).
  • Error responses come only from src/errors/ + global error middleware; flag any res.status().json() on an error path (risk: inconsistent shape, stack leaks). Error middleware must not expose stack traces or Prisma error details in production.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

security-audit is a skill published in the GitHub repository KhaledSaeed18/node-express-boilerplate (33 stars, last pushed 4d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 53 tokens to every session and 735 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
