irb-review

irb-review is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from kinamind/Psy-Skill-Hub. It costs 33 tokens per session (341 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A pre-review guide for projects involving human participants and for reporting unexpected incidents. An IRB, or ethics review board, checks whether human research is acceptable and what review it needs.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps check whether a project may involve human-subjects research, suggest a review pathway, and classify possible unanticipated problems. It does not provide final approval or legal clearance.
Why use it?
It helps organize the facts before review and highlights questions about participant interaction, private information, vulnerable groups, sensitive topics, and risk.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00033 $0.00341
Opus 5.5 $0.00013 $0.00136
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00007 $0.00068
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00034

Security

Grade A, and why

irb-review scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

IRB Review

Purpose

Pre-review support for human-subjects scope checks, ethics review triage, and unanticipated-problem incident classification.

When to Use

  • human-subjects scope check
  • review pathway triage
  • incident reporting triage

Instructions

  1. identify the project or incident context.
  2. check for interaction, intervention, identifiable private information, vulnerable groups, and sensitive topics.
  3. if incident-related, test whether it appears unexpected, related or possibly related, and increases risk.
  4. return a structured pre-review with uncertainties and next-step recommendations.

Output Format

  • Scope check
  • Review signals
  • Open questions
  • Next steps

Boundaries

  • do not claim institutional approval, legal clearance, or final ethics determination
  • do not replace local IRB, REC, EC, legal counsel, or compliance review
  • present outputs as drafts, pre-review notes, or structured guidance

Escalation

If the user describes an emergency, active abuse, immediate danger, or asks for crisis intervention, stop the workflow and direct them to urgent human help and local emergency resources.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
