check-multiple-versions

check-multiple-versions is a skill for Claude Code from kirich1409/krozov-ai-tools. It costs 99 tokens per session (436 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A tool that looks up the latest available versions for a list of Maven libraries. Maven is a build system and package repository commonly used by Java projects.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to get the preferred stable version, stability information, and source repository for several exact library coordinates.
Why use it?
It avoids checking each library separately when you are choosing dependencies to add or evaluate.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00099 $0.00436
Opus 5 $0.00049 $0.00218
Sonnet 5 $0.00020 $0.00087
Haiku 4.5 $0.00010 $0.00044

Security

Grade A, and why

check-multiple-versions scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Check Multiple Versions

Batch-resolve the latest version for several Maven artifacts at once — for artifacts the user is evaluating or about to add, not for auditing an existing project's declared dependencies and not for comparing against a current version.

Steps

  1. Parse a list of groupId:artifactId pairs from the user's message.

  2. Call check_multiple_dependencies with:

    • dependencies: [{groupId, artifactId}, ...]
    • optional projectPath when the user is inside a project (uses declared repos)

Note: unlike /latest-version, this tool has no stabilityFilter override — it always selects PREFER_STABLE. Call get_latest_version per-artifact instead if the user needs STABLE_ONLY or ALL for one of them.

  3. Present a table: artifact → latest version → stability → resolved-from repo. Entries with an error (e.g. no version found) are shown separately with the error message — never silently dropped.

Constraints and non-goals

  • Not for a single artifact — use /latest-version.
  • Not for comparing against versions already in the project — use /compare-dependency-versions or /check-deps.

Fallback (MCP unavailable only)

Fetch maven-metadata.xml per artifact from public repos and pick the highest stable version from each. Skips project-declared private repos.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
