Knapsack Problem Framework
Problem Classification
1. 0/1 Knapsack
- Each item can be selected at most once
- Binary decision: include or exclude
- Most common variant
- Applications: Project selection, cargo loading with value
2. Bounded Knapsack
- Each item has limited quantity available
- Decision: how many of each item to take (0 to max_qty)
- Generalization of 0/1
- Applications: Portfolio selection, inventory selection
3. Unbounded Knapsack
- Unlimited quantity of each item type
- Can take as many as capacity allows
