Turn comparison points into a versioned evidence system with explicit reference classes, compatible metric contracts, source lineage, uncertainty, and transfer limits. A benchmark describes attributable observations or estimates inside a bounded comparison set; it is not automatically a baseline, target, forecast, counterfactual, best practice, or attainable standard.
