kx-gauge

kx-gauge is a skill for Claude Code from KxSystems/kx-skills. It costs 58 tokens per session (1,220 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A guide for creating KX Dashboards gauge and bullet-style KPI visuals. KX Dashboards are business dashboards, and a KPI is a key measure such as progress toward a target.

In plain words
What is it for?
Building gauge or bullet widgets, connecting them to data, configuring their display, and checking the resulting dashboard JSON.
Why use it?
It helps select the correct widget and avoid modeling a bullet display with the wrong chart type.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00058 $0.01220
Opus 5 $0.00029 $0.00610
Sonnet 5 $0.00012 $0.00244
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00122

Security

Grade A, and why

kx-gauge scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

KX Gauge Widget

key: "Gauge" · definitionId: "11178"

This skill uses progressive disclosure: the hazards, workflow, sub-type table, and output rules are here; the bulky JSON schemas, ChartType/Format field tables, tooltip template, migration history, and examples live in reference/. Read only the reference file relevant to your current step.

Reference Files

File Read it when you need…
reference/component-schema.md The raw component JSON — full Gauge and Bullet options schemas, the ChartType property tables, highlight rules, the Format table, the Tooltip section/template, and the schema upgrade history.
reference/examples.md The two generate.js config examples (Gauge + Bullet) for the shared generator, plus typical kdb+ query patterns.

⚠️ Gauge Hazards

  • Bullet chart = key: "Gauge" with _Type: "Bullet" — NEVER ChartGL. Do not simulate a bullet chart using ChartGL Bar + Bubble layers. The only correct widget for a bullet chart is the Gauge widget (definitionId: "11178") with Basics.ChartType._Type: "Bullet".
  • Basics.ChartType._Type controls the sub-type ("Gauge" or "Bullet"). Omitting it leaves the widget in an undefined state.
  • Highlight rule values are absolute numbers, not percentages. They are converted internally to 0–1 fractions of [Min, Max] for eCharts color stops.
  • RuleOperation only supports "<" and "<=" — no other operators.
  • Bullet highlight rules require Max to be setsetHighlightRules guards on if (min || max). Without Max, highlight rules are silently skipped even if HighlightRules is non-empty. Set Min: 0 and Max to the largest rule value (e.g. 300 if your top rule is <= 300). This does not affect Bullet axis scaling — scale remains data-driven.
  • ShowTitle must be undefined (not false) for Bullet — the widget explicitly removes it when switching to Bullet type.
  • Tooltip uses a Handlebars template stored in Tooltip.CustomTooltip. The default template is in reference/component-schema.md → Tooltip.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
