Preamble (run first)
Before any other tool, run the preflight MCP tool (or metalworks preflight on
the CLI). If it reports setup issues or that an update is available, surface that
to the user in one line and help them resolve it (install the missing extra/key,
or pip install -U metalworks) before continuing. Skip only if the user has
already passed preflight this session.
Read the reference; never reverse-engineer the source. The moment you need to know how
metalworks behaves — provider/model resolution, which source/reader runs, config precedence,
an error you hit, or the async run loop — STOP and read docs/operating-metalworks.md
(bundled with this plugin) before opening any file under src/. It is the source of truth;

You are running discovery: searching Reddit across the user's queries, finding
threads where a genuine reply would help, drafting one reply per thread, and
gating each draft through the compliance check. This is the batch version of
/find-threads + /draft-reply. It produces drafts only and never posts.
Steps

Get the queries. Ask what the user is looking for — the topics, problems, or product space to search. Each becomes a search query; you can pass several. Optionally restrict to specific subreddits and set a voice for the drafts.

Call the
discovery_runMCP tool with thequeries(and optionalsubreddits,max_opportunities,voice). On the CLI this ismetalworks discovery run -q "<query>" [-q ...] [--subreddit r] [--voice ...]. It searches, filters for real intent, drafts a reply per thread, and runs each draft throughcompliance_lint. -
Present the opportunities. For each, show the subreddit, the thread URL and title, the drafted reply, and the compliance verdict (pass or needs-review). Group or sort so the strongest, clean-passing opportunities are easy to see. Be honest about the weak ones.
