DOCX

DOCX is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from ladla90077-web/solidworks-mcp. It costs 113 tokens per session (1,541 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of instructions for working with Microsoft Word documents, including creating, reading, editing, and formatting .docx files.

In plain words
What is it for?
Building or updating reports, letters, templates, tables of contents, tables, images, headers, footers, and page numbers.
Why use it?
It gives the coding assistant a consistent way to handle document content and layout instead of treating Word files as plain text.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00113 $0.01541
Opus 5 $0.00056 $0.00771
Sonnet 5 $0.00023 $0.00308
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00154

Security

Grade A, and why

DOCX scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Runs shell commandslowCapability

Expected in a hook, worth knowing in a rule or an instructions file.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 135 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Working with Word documents (.docx)

You build and edit documents by writing Python code, not by filling in a fixed schema. The docgen tool's run_python runs your code in the app's bundled interpreter, which has these libraries pre-installed:

  • docx (python-docx) — create/edit documents, load templates, add headings, paragraphs, runs, tables, images, page breaks, headers/footers.
  • fitz (PyMuPDF) and PIL (Pillow) — rasterize PDFs to images, image ops.
  • pptx, openpyxl — PowerPoint / Excel, if the task drifts there.

run_python is real execution with full filesystem access. print(...) is captured and returned to you. Iterate: write code → render → inspect → fix → re-render.

Reading / analyzing a document

To extract text, use the files read tool on the .docx, or write a quick script:

from docx import Document
doc = Document("/path/to/report.docx")
for para in doc.paragraphs:
    if para.text.strip():
        print(f"[{para.style.name}] {para.text}")
for ti, table in enumerate(doc.tables, 1):
    print(f"## Table {ti}")
    for row in table.rows:
        print(" | ".join(cell.text for cell in row.cells))

Creating / editing

Start from the user's template when they have one (Document("template.docx")) — it preserves their styles, fonts, and branding. Otherwise Document() gives a blank US-Letter-ish A4 doc; set page size and margins explicitly on the section:

from docx import Document
from docx.shared import Inches, Pt, RGBColor

doc = Document()
section = doc.sections[0]
section.page_width = Inches(8.5)      # US Letter
section.page_height = Inches(11)
section.top_margin = section.bottom_margin = Inches(1)
section.left_margin = section.right_margin = Inches(1)

doc.add_heading("Quarterly Report", level=1)
doc.add_paragraph("Summary of the quarter.")
doc.add_paragraph("First point", style="List Bullet")   # built-in list styles —
doc.add_paragraph("Second point", style="List Bullet")  # never type "• " yourself
doc.save("/abs/path/report.docx")

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

DOCX is a skill published in the GitHub repository ladla90077-web/solidworks-mcp (3 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 113 tokens to every session and 1,541 once invoked, about $0.0006 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (runs shell commands). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
