synapse-init

synapse-init is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from LameGz/synapse-graph-skills. It costs 90 tokens per session (1,027 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A setup wizard for Synapse, a project-memory system that stores an overview and module information for a codebase. It detects parts of the technology stack and creates the initial memory files and helper structure.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to initialize Synapse, set up project memory, detect technologies and modules, and create the initial memory map.
Why use it?
It gives a new or existing project a starting map that agents can use in later work. This avoids rebuilding the project's structure and context from scratch each time.

Skill for Claude CodeCodex

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths; mentions Claude Code.

Good fit Use it to initialize Synapse, set up project memory, detect technologies and modules, and create the initial memory map.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00090 $0.01027
Opus 5 $0.00045 $0.00513
Sonnet 5 $0.00018 $0.00205
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00103

Security

Grade A, and why

synapse-init scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 19 executable files (scripts/apply_memory_proposal.py, scripts/auto_observe.py, scripts/db_index.py, …), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Synapse Init

v1.5 product shape: this skill remains an independently installable cold-start entry for the Synapse suite. It should create a proj_project project anchor plus module/full-stack nodes, then hand off daily use to synapse-graph-memory for retrieval, Memory Inbox review, and Project Resume.

Overview

One-command cold-start wizard that bootstraps the Synapse memory system into a project:

init.sh
  │
  ├── Step 1: Create directory structure (meta/, meta/archive/, scripts/hooks/)
  ├── Step 2: Auto-detect tech stack (Node/React/Python/FastAPI/Go/Rust/Java)
├── Step 3: Infer module boundaries from src/ directory structure
  ├── Step 4: Generate mod_project.md overview node
├── Step 5: Generate mod_*.md skeleton nodes per detected module
├── Step 6: Copy helper scripts + register hooks in .claude/settings.json
  └── Step 7: Build initial MEMORY_MAP.md + MEMORY_MAP.json

Trigger Patterns (MANDATORY)

User says... Action
"初始化记忆" / "初始化 Synapse" Run init.sh in target project root
"给项目配 Synapse" / "给这个项目加上记忆系统" Run init.sh --project <path>
"setup memory for this project" Run init.sh
"bootstrap memory graph" Run init.sh
"帮我在 项目里初始化工程记忆" Run init.sh --project <path>

Quick Start

# Initialize current directory
bash <skill-path>/scripts/init.sh

# Initialize specific project
bash <skill-path>/scripts/init.sh --project ./my-project --yes

# Non-interactive mode
bash <skill-path>/scripts/init.sh --yes

What Gets Created

Path Content
meta/mod_project.md Project overview with detected tech stack
meta/mod_<name>.md One skeleton per detected module (auth, api, payment, etc.)
MEMORY_MAP.md Auto-generated graph index
MEMORY_MAP.json Machine-readable index mirror
scripts/ Helper scripts (generate_memory_map, suggest_edges, ingest, apply, doctor)
scripts/hooks/ 4 Claude Code hooks (pre-read, pre-modify, post-tool, session-end)
.claude/settings.json Hook registrations

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

synapse-init is a skill published in the GitHub repository LameGz/synapse-graph-skills (11 stars, last pushed 3mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 90 tokens to every session and 1,027 once invoked, about $0.0005 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
