setup

An environment check for a document pipeline that uses LaTeX to create PDFs, Poppler to inspect them, and Python 3.10 or newer. It reports missing tools and prints the installation command for the current operating system.

In plain words
What is it for?
Run it after cloning the project or when PDF work fails, then use its result to decide whether to install the required tools.
Why use it?
It shows whether the machine is ready before a compile or PDF-reading failure occurs. Missing tools do not stop the whole pipeline, but page-fit and PDF checks are skipped.

One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Per session 62 Skills are progressive disclosure: only the name and description are preloaded; the body loads when the skill is used.
When invoked 267 The whole file, excluding the scripts and references it only reads on demand.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00062 $0.00267
Opus 5 $0.00031 $0.00133
Sonnet 5 $0.00012 $0.00053
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00027

Security

Grade B, and why

setup scanned grade B with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Asks for rootmediumPrivilege escalation

A mod that escalates privileges can change anything on the machine, not only the project.

What it actually says

/setup: environment check

Run the deterministic checker and relay its result:

python3 ops/env_check.py
  • Everything present (exit 0): tell the user they are ready, and point at the next step: put existing resumes into bank/sources/ and run /onboard (or, if the bank already exists, /tailor <posting>).
  • Something missing (exit 4): show the install command the script printed and ask the user to run it themselves by typing ! <command> in the prompt; installs need sudo or an interactive prompt, so never run the install yourself. Once they say it is installed, run the checker again to confirm.

Missing LaTeX/poppler is a degraded mode, not a hard stop: the pipeline still runs but skips the compile and page-fit checks. Say so if the user chooses not to install.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

setup is a skill published in the GitHub repository ledq/resumery (1 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 62 tokens to every session and 267 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it B with 1 finding (asks for root). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
