define-requirements

define-requirements is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from leifericf/agentic-sdk. It costs 11 tokens per session (356 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A method for describing what a product must do as clear, testable requirements. It keeps the scope focused and records unresolved questions separately.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create a product requirements document covering goals, users, scope, functional and non-functional requirements, workflows, and success criteria.
Why use it?
It turns broad goals into specific acceptance checks and prevents architecture or implementation choices from being mistaken for requirements.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00011 $0.00356
Opus 5 $0.00005 $0.00178
Sonnet 5 $0.00002 $0.00071
Haiku 4.5 $0.00001 $0.00036

Measured 4d ago against content hash ef8b9e24f313, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

define-requirements scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

define-requirements

Define WHAT must be built as testable, scoped requirements. No tech stack, architecture, timelines, or estimates.

Procedure

  1. Read project-meta.md, problem-description.md, and open-questions.md. If a prerequisite is missing, return blocked: <which artifact>.
  2. Surface any [Blocking] items affecting product-requirements.md and resolve them first.
  3. Clarify ambiguities, at most three questions per turn: contradictions between goals and constraints, implicit assumptions, acceptance criteria made concrete and testable. Park unclear requirements in open-questions.md as - [ ] [Affects: product-requirements.md] <question> (Answer: TBD).
  4. Iterate until scope is crisp and confirmed. Shape requirements around the smallest valuable increments.
  5. Write ~/.agentic-sdk/<project>/artifacts/planning/product-requirements.md with: Metadata, Problem Statement, Goals, Non-Goals, Users, Scope, Functional Requirements (each with priority and acceptance criteria), Non-Functional Requirements, Workflows, Success Criteria, Assumptions. Keep open questions out of the PRD; they live in open-questions.md.

Boundaries

Owns the testable requirements. review-risks owns surfacing risk and assumptions; design-technical owns HOW. Reached by plan-system.

Return

One line: the artifact written and a terse status, or blocked: <reason>.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
