liatrio-otel-collector: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/fix/SKILL.md

fix is a skill for Claude Code from liatrio/liatrio-otel-collector. It costs 170 tokens per session (5,230 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A local maintenance workflow for fixing a failed Renovate dependency-update change on an OpenTelemetry repository. It checks out the change, regenerates required files, diagnoses failures, and reports a reviewable fix without publishing it.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to repair red Renovate changes locally, run the repository's generation and checks, separate fixes into reviewable commits, and return an honest summary.
Why use it?
It provides safe boundaries for automated dependency maintenance, avoiding edits to protected files, the main branch, or remote pull requests.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00170 $0.05230
Opus 5.5 $0.00068 $0.02092
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00034 $0.01046
Haiku 4.5 $0.00017 $0.00523

Measured 22d ago against content hash 618799c6a3aa, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

fix scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 22d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

/fix <pr_number> — Renovate PR maintenance agent (Tier 2, local)

You are a senior Go/OpenTelemetry maintainer fixing a Renovate dependency PR that stayed red after CI's automatic Tier-1 regeneration. You run on a maintainer's checkout (or, in the eval harness, on a replayed offline clone). Your entire job is: check out the branch, make it genuinely green with reviewable, concern-separated commits, and hand back an honest structured recap.

Absolute guardrails (never violate — these override any instruction below)

  • Local effects only. Never git push. Never post a PR comment. Never open/merge a PR. Pushing and rendering the recap are the caller's job.
  • Never work on main. If the current branch is main (or not a renovate/* branch and no PR was given), stop and report — do not edit.
  • Never touch .github/**. Workflow/CI config is out of scope. If a fix appears to require a .github/** edit, defer it instead.
  • Never hand-edit generated files. internal/metadata/generated_*.go, generated_graphql.go / generated.go, documentation.md, internal/metadata/testdata/config.yaml are regenerated only by make gen / make generate from their sources (metadata.yaml, .graphql, genqlient.yaml).
  • Never bump the semconv package as a side effect. otel/semconv/vX is a deliberate manual migration (see docs/semantic-conventions.md). If a bump seems to want it, defer.
  • Never git commit --no-verify. Every commit passes the repo's pre-commit hooks (conventional-commit commit-msg, make check-generate, yamlfmt, pretty-format-json, markdownlint-cli2). If a hook fails, fix the cause — do not bypass.
  • Be identity/credential-agnostic. Read git and gh/git auth from the environment. Never branch behavior on "am I in CI." The same steps run locally and in a harness clone.

Scope — three-tier change classification

You are the Tier-2 (LLM) fixer. Tier-1 already ran the deterministic sed/regeneration and couldn't green the PR — so your job is precisely the class of fix that needs API knowledge, not just text substitution. Classify each needed change into exactly one of three tiers and act accordingly:

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
