clo3d-mcp: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/clo-patterns/SKILL.md

clo-patterns is a skill for Claude Code from Lilbonner/clo3d-mcp. It costs 76 tokens per session (2,062 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A workflow for creating and simulating clothing in CLO 3D, a garment-design program, from digital pattern pieces. It covers importing DXF pattern files, arranging pieces on an avatar, sewing them, simulating the fabric, and rendering the result.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to import garment patterns, arrange and sew pieces, dress an avatar, simulate cloth, and render clothing in CLO 3D.
Why use it?
It provides an ordered process for turning flat pattern pieces into a fitted virtual garment. It also requires saving a checkpoint before sewing because an incorrect seam cannot be removed through the available connection.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00076 $0.02062
Opus 5 $0.00038 $0.01031
Sonnet 5 $0.00015 $0.00412
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00206

Security

Grade A, and why

clo-patterns scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Building garments from лекала in CLO via MCP

Prerequisites

  1. CLO must be running with the MCP listener up: clo_ping → "CLO listener is up." If not: CLO menu Settings → Plug-in → MCP Listener (start / stop) — the first click auto-starts the listener on 127.0.0.1:5005. Plugin debug log: C:\Users\Public\Documents\CLO\clo_mcp_plugin.log.
  2. Commands run on CLO's main thread. During simulate / import_project / render_image the CLO window stops responding — this is normal, NOT a crash. Warn the user not to close the window; Windows will offer to kill it (AppHangB1).

CRITICAL: checkpoint before sewing

There is no remove_seam and no undo over MCP — a wrong seam is permanent for the session. Before any sewing experiment, save a checkpoint:

export_zprj → e.g. C:\projects\mcps\clo3d\out\checkpoint-before-sew.zprj

If sewing goes wrong, import_project the checkpoint back.

Pipeline

1. Import (if starting from DXF)

import_project imports AAMA/ASTM DXF (e.g. exported from Grafis v11 with Collating on). It keeps the avatar and replaces existing garment patterns. Pieces land flat, un-arranged, un-sewn.

2. Inventory the pieces

  • pattern_count, then pattern_info(i) for each — returns only bbox, id, name (NO outline geometry).
  • Names from Russian DXFs arrive cp1251-mojibaked (ïåðåä = перед). Decode: s.encode('latin1').decode('cp1251'). Typical names: перед=front, спинка=back, рукав=sleeve, манжета=cuff, стойка=collar stand, воротник=collar, планка=placket, кокетка=yoke, бейка=binding.
  • Pieces lying flat on the 2D table have z≈const (e.g. 200) and depth≈0 in their bbox; arranged pieces have real 3D positions.

3. Probe outlines

Run python scripts/probe_outlines.py — dumps every outline line length for all patterns in seconds by talking to the listener directly (much faster than per-line MCP calls). Gotcha: out-of-range line_length returns 0, not an error — the real line count is the index of the first 0.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

clo-patterns is a skill published in the GitHub repository Lilbonner/clo3d-mcp (3 stars, last pushed 3mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 76 tokens to every session and 2,062 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
