avalonia-services

avalonia-services is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from linuxdevel/Avalonia-skills. It costs 57 tokens per session (2,166 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide to Avalonia platform services, which let an application use operating-system features through its top-level window or visual root.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it for clipboard access, file and folder dialogs, launching files or URLs, screen and window information, focus, notifications, and input-method access.
Why use it?
It explains where these services come from and when they are available, avoiding failures before a control is attached to the interface.

Skill for Claude CodeCodex

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one.

Not installable: its command points at a path on the author’s own machine, so it runs nowhere else. The line is /home/user/projects.

Good fit Use it for clipboard access, file and folder dialogs, launching files or URLs, screen and window information, focus, notifications, and input-method access.

There is no command for this one: it runs only inside a plugin, and the catalogue could not identify which plugin ships it. The source is linked below.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00057 $0.02166
Opus 5 $0.00028 $0.01083
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00433
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00217

Measured 9d ago against content hash 0d340ba054c5, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-09, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

avalonia-services scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Avalonia Platform Services

Overview

Platform services are accessed via the TopLevel class (root of visual tree — typically Window or PopupRoot).

var topLevel = TopLevel.GetTopLevel(this); // 'this' = any attached control

Returns null if control is not yet attached to visual tree. Call in OnAttachedToVisualTree or later.

Clipboard

var clipboard = TopLevel.GetTopLevel(this)?.Clipboard;

// Write text
await clipboard!.SetTextAsync("Hello, world");

// Write custom data object
var data = new DataObject();
data.Set("application/x-myformat", myObject);
data.Set(DataFormats.Text, "fallback text");
await clipboard.SetDataObjectAsync(data);

// Read text
var text = await clipboard!.GetTextAsync(); // null if no text on clipboard

// Read custom format
var formats = await clipboard!.GetFormatsAsync(); // string[]
var raw = await clipboard!.GetDataAsync("application/x-myformat");

// Clear
await clipboard!.ClearAsync();

File Dialogs (StorageProvider)

var storage = TopLevel.GetTopLevel(this)?.StorageProvider;

Open file(s):

var files = await storage!.OpenFilePickerAsync(new FilePickerOpenOptions
{
    Title = "Open File",
    AllowMultiple = false,
    FileTypeFilter = new[]
    {
        new FilePickerFileType("Images")
        {
            Patterns = new[] { "*.png", "*.jpg", "*.jpeg", "*.webp" },
            MimeTypes = new[] { "image/png", "image/jpeg" }
        },
        new FilePickerFileType("All Files") { Patterns = new[] { "*" } }
    },
    SuggestedStartLocation = await storage.TryGetWellKnownFolderAsync(WellKnownFolder.Pictures)
});

if (files.Count > 0)
{
    await using var stream = await files[0].OpenReadAsync();
    var bitmap = new Bitmap(stream);
}

Built-in FilePickerFileTypes: All, TextPlain, Pdf, Images

Save file:

var file = await storage!.SaveFilePickerAsync(new FilePickerSaveOptions
{
    Title = "Save As",
    DefaultExtension = "txt",
    SuggestedFileName = "untitled",
    FileTypeChoices = new[]
    {
        new FilePickerFileType("Text Files") { Patterns = new[] { "*.txt" } },
        new FilePickerFileType("All Files") { Patterns = new[] { "*" } }
    }
});

if (file is not null)
{
    await using var stream = await file.OpenWriteAsync();
    await using var writer = new StreamWriter(stream);
    await writer.WriteAsync(content);
}

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
