skill-creator

skill-creator is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from LiuYihey/Auto-agent-skills. It costs 50 tokens per session (994 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for creating reusable instructions, called skills, for AI coding agents.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps identify reusable workflows, define when a skill should activate, initialize its files, and organize supporting scripts or references.
Why use it?
It helps turn a completed solution into a focused skill without adding unnecessary instructions or resources.

Skill for Claude CodeCodex

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one.

Good fit It helps identify reusable workflows, define when a skill should activate, initialize its files, and organize supporting scripts or references.

Getting it into your agent

One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00050 $0.00994
Opus 5 $0.00025 $0.00497
Sonnet 5 $0.00010 $0.00199
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00099

Measured 10d ago against content hash 41ef10635604, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-10, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

skill-creator scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Skill Creator

This skill guides you through creating effective, reusable AI agent skills.

Core Principles

  1. Concise is Key: Only add context the agent doesn't already have. Challenge each piece: "Does this justify its token cost?"
  2. Appropriate Freedom: Match specificity to task fragility - use guardrails for fragile operations, flexibility for adaptable tasks.
  3. Progressive Disclosure: Keep SKILL.md lean (<500 lines), split detailed content into references/.

Creation Workflow

Step 1: Analyze the Task Solution

Before creating, identify:

  • Core workflow: What steps solved the problem?
  • Reusable patterns: What would help in similar tasks?
  • Trigger conditions: When should this skill activate?

Step 2: Initialize the Skill

Run the init command to create the template:

npx skills init <skill-name>

This creates a skill directory with SKILL.md template and resource directories.

Step 3: Write the SKILL.md

Frontmatter (Required)
---
name: skill-name
description: What the skill does AND when to use it. Include specific triggers.
---

Critical: The description is the primary trigger mechanism. Include:

  • What the skill does
  • Specific scenarios that trigger it
  • File types or task patterns it handles
Body Structure

Choose a structure based on skill type:

## Step 2: [Action]

Task-Based (tool collections):

# Skill Title

## Task: [Operation 1]
## Task: [Operation 2]

Step 4: Add Resources (If Needed)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

skill-creator is a skill published in the GitHub repository LiuYihey/Auto-agent-skills (9 stars, last pushed 5mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 50 tokens to every session and 994 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
