chronicle-mcp: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/manage-custom-skills/SKILL.md

manage-custom-skills is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from loerei/chronicle-mcp. It costs 30 tokens per session (578 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A workflow for writing custom coding-agent skills in a central catalogue and distributing them to project workspaces and development tools.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create or edit skills, distribute them to workspaces and IDE configurations, run policy audits, and prepare changes in the central skills repository.
Why use it?
It prevents local copies from becoming out of date by treating one central file as the source and providing steps for syncing and auditing copies.

Skill for Claude CodeCodex

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths; installed under .agents/ (shared by several agents); mentions AGENTS.md.

This is loerei/chronicle-mcp's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and Codex how to work on chronicle-mcp itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything chronicle-mcp configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00030 $0.00578
Opus 5 $0.00015 $0.00289
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00116
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00058

Measured 12d ago against content hash d22f06308efb, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-12, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

manage-custom-skills scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Manage Custom Skills

Author skills in the central myskills/ source catalog, then distribute them to project workspaces and IDE targets.

Workflow

flowchart TD
    Start["Skill Request"] --> Source["1. Edit Source SKILL.md in myskills/<category>/<name>/"]
    Source --> Distribute["2. Sync Workspaces: agents distribute"]
    Distribute --> Audit["3. Sync Table 1 Policy: agents audit -a -p"]
    Audit --> Git["4. Commit & Push myskills"]

Core Rules

  1. Source-First Mandate: ALWAYS edit skills directly in <myskills-root>/<category>/<skill-name>/SKILL.md. NEVER edit project-local copies in .agents/skills/ (they are overwritten on distribution unless frontmatter sets local: true).
  2. Lookup Tooling:
    • Find source path: agents info skill.<skill-name> (or agents where for root).
    • Read skill stdout: agents read skill.<skill-name>.
  3. Distribution: Run agents distribute (or agents distribute -t . for current repo only) to sync changes to workspaces and IDE configs (~/.gemini, ~/.claude, ~/.cursor).
  4. Policy Audit: Run agents audit -a -p after adding, renaming, or deleting skills to sync Table 1 in AGENTS.md.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
