chronicle-mcp: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/ux-friction-killer/SKILL.md

ux-friction-killer is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from loerei/chronicle-mcp. It costs 89 tokens per session (570 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for reducing common interface problems, including unclear button feedback, trapped scrolling, and missing hover or focus states.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when building or reviewing frontend controls, inputs, scrollable areas, and other interactive components.
Why use it?
It helps users understand what they can interact with and prevents scrolling from behaving unexpectedly.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00089 $0.00570
Opus 5 $0.00044 $0.00285
Sonnet 5 $0.00018 $0.00114
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00057

Security

Grade A, and why

ux-friction-killer scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

UX Friction Killer

Quick start

For any user interaction (buttons, inputs, scrollable boxes), prioritize physical responsiveness and visual clarity:

  • Hover/Active states: MUST change style (scale, border-color, shadow, background-color) to confirm focus.
  • Micro-interactions: Show visual feedback inline immediately (e.g. icon checkmarks on copy buttons).
  • Scroll hijack prevention: Subwindows/subscroll boxes must not lock screen scroll.

Workflows

1. Scroll-Jacking & Overscroll Prevention

  • Hover scroll indicator: If an element is scrollable, it MUST show subtle hover styling (like scrollbar track opacity transitions) to indicate it accepts scroll events.
  • Lock release: Always release parent scroll chaining when limits are reached. Use overscroll-behavior: contain or native CSS options to prevent unexpected site-level scroll jumps, but ensure a clear visual boundary exists.
  • Scroll limits: If the cursor is over a subwindow at its scroll limit (top/bottom), do not trap the user. Ensure mousewheel events naturally propagate or the boundary is clearly visual.

2. Show, Don't Tell (Visual Feedback over Text)

  • Status cues: Use visual transitions, color changes, and icon states instead of text alerts (alert(), popup text, toast notices) where possible.
  • Instant confirmations: When action succeeds (e.g., copied, saved, deleted), transition the active element itself (e.g., button scale changes, icon morphs to a checkmark).
  • Transitions: Every color, layout, or size transition MUST be animated smoothly using CSS transitions (transition: all 0.2s ease-in-out).

3. Active & Hover State Coverage

  • Cursor feedback: Every clickable element MUST have cursor: pointer.
  • States: Implement distinct :hover, :active, and :focus styles. Never leave buttons static on hover.
  • Optimistic UI: Update the UI state immediately on user click, then process API/sync calls in the background.

Checklists

  • Every button has a :hover and :active state.
  • No alert() calls used for simple status feedback.
  • Scrollable subwindows do not hijack site scroll unexpectedly.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
