Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00062 | $0.00811 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00031 | $0.00405 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00012 | $0.00162 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00006 | $0.00081 |
Grade A, and why
ponytail-help scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 79 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Ponytail Help
Display this reference card when invoked. One-shot, do NOT change mode, write flag files, or persist anything.
Levels
| Level | Trigger | What change |
|---|---|---|
| Lite | /ponytail-kimi:ponytail lite |
Build what's asked, name the lazier alternative in one line. |
| Full | /ponytail-kimi:ponytail |
The ladder enforced: YAGNI → stdlib → native → one line → minimum. Default. |
| Ultra | /ponytail-kimi:ponytail ultra |
YAGNI extremist. Deletion before addition. Challenges requirements before building. |
Level sticks until changed or session end.
Commands
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/ponytail-kimi:ponytail [lite|full|ultra|off] |
Lazy mode itself. Simplest solution that works. |
/ponytail-kimi:ponytail-review |
Over-engineering review: L42: yagni: factory, one product. Inline. |
/ponytail-kimi:ponytail-audit |
Whole-repo over-engineering audit: ranked list of what to delete. |
/ponytail-kimi:ponytail-debt |
Harvest ponytail: shortcut comments into a tracked ledger. |
/ponytail-kimi:ponytail-gain |
Measured-impact scoreboard: less code, less cost, more speed. |

How it stays active
The ruleset loads at session start via sessionStart.skill. The plugin's
UserPromptSubmit hook tracks mode switches, and a SessionStart hook resets the
level to the default for each new session. Both are Node.js scripts — node
must be on PATH. Without node the skills and commands still work; only mode
persistence and injection stay quiet.
Per-turn injection on normal prompts is configurable (PONYTAIL_INJECT_MODE
env var, or injectMode in the config file): session (default) injects
nothing, compact injects a ~90-token reminder every prompt, full injects
the whole ruleset every prompt so it survives context compaction.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

ponytail-help is a skill published in the GitHub repository loneyclown/ponytail-kimi (5 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 62 tokens to every session and 811 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
