Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00000 | $0.00346 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00000 | $0.00173 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00000 | $0.00069 |

Grade A, and why
web-research scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
What it actually says
Web Research Skill
Purpose
Provides structured web search and information collection strategies for comprehensive topic research.
Capabilities
- Multi-query web search with varied phrasing
- Source credibility assessment
- Finding deduplication across queries
- Bilingual search (Korean + English)
Search Strategy
Query Formulation
For each research question, generate 2-3 search queries:
- Exact match: Use the question as-is
- Technical variant: Rephrase with specific technical terminology
- Korean variant: Translate the question to Korean for Korean-language sources
Source Credibility Hierarchy
- Official documentation — Primary source (highest credibility)
- Peer-reviewed / established publications — Academic and industry publications
- Expert blog posts — Technical blog posts from recognized domain experts
- Community resources — Stack Overflow, GitHub discussions, forums
- News articles — Recent developments and announcements
- Social media — Lowest credibility, use only for trending topics
Deduplication
When multiple sources report the same finding:
- Keep the most authoritative source
- Note corroboration: "Confirmed by N sources"
- Remove redundant entries
When to Use
- Researcher Agent, Step 1 of the pipeline
- When decomposing topic into research questions and collecting findings
Failure Handling
- If WebSearch returns no results: rephrase the query and retry (max 2 retries)
- If WebFetch fails on a URL: skip that source, note as "inaccessible"
- If an entire topic area yields no results: flag in the Coverage Assessment section
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

web-research is a skill published in the GitHub repository lowtidebuild/ebook-writer (5 stars, last pushed 2mo ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 346 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
