tdmcp-artist-workflows

tdmcp-artist-workflows is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from lucasmaher-hash/touch-designer-mcp. It costs 27 tokens per session (370 once invoked), scanned A, a copy of tdmcp-artist-workflows, MIT.

A workflow guide for using tdmcp, a bridge that lets coding agents inspect and edit TouchDesigner projects. It emphasizes reading context first, making small reversible changes, and checking the actual result.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create, modify, inspect, explain, connect, arrange, and preview TouchDesigner nodes through tdmcp.
Why use it?
It prevents edits from targeting the wrong node, hiding destructive effects, or being declared successful when the TouchDesigner network still has errors.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00027 $0.00370
Opus 5 $0.00014 $0.00185
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00074
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00037

Security

Grade A, and why

tdmcp-artist-workflows scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

tdmcp artist workflows

Use this skill when an artist asks you to create, modify, inspect, or explain a TouchDesigner network through tdmcp.

Working loop

  1. Read the current editor or project context before interpreting phrases such as "this node", "the selected operator", or "put it here". If context is absent, ask for an explicit path.
  2. Inspect the smallest useful network scope. Do not dump an entire project when one COMP or operator answers the question.
  3. Prefer structured tdmcp tools over raw Python. Keep the bridge usable when raw execution is disabled.
  4. State the intended nodes, connections, placement, and destructive effects before mutation.
  5. Make the smallest coherent change, then read the affected paths back and report actual state.
  6. Use previews and node errors when visual or cook correctness matters. Never claim a visual result from request success alone.

Network construction

  • Give every created operator a deterministic name and explicit editor coordinates.
  • Lay out inputs and controls on the left, processing in ordered rows, and outputs or previews on the right. Keep names, flags, and viewers readable.
  • Preserve existing nodes and connections unless replacement was requested.
  • Use idempotency keys or existing-path checks when repeating a build could duplicate content.
  • Prefer native parameter modes, expressions, binds, and exports over flattening reactive state.

Communication

Return concise paths, applied actions, warnings, and verification evidence. Separate offline validation from checks actually performed in a running TouchDesigner instance. Mark anything that needs a live bridge as unverified instead of inferring success.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
