track-package-locally

track-package-locally is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from lucasviola/specwiki. It costs 36 tokens per session (339 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A local workflow for running and debugging Parcel Path's package-tracking command, using offline test fixtures instead of production carrier credentials.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to run tracking examples, investigate command or carrier-adapter errors, add regression tests, and verify timeline formatting and verbose logging.
Why use it?
It provides a safe way to reproduce tracking bugs, identify which layer failed, and check that output is clear and sensitive data is hidden.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00036 $0.00339
Opus 5 $0.00018 $0.00169
Sonnet 5 $0.00007 $0.00068
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00034

Security

Grade A, and why

track-package-locally scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Track package locally

Reproduce tracking behaviour on your machine without touching production credentials.

Quick commands

npm install
npm test # baseline
npm run dev -- track --id DEMO-1001
npm run dev -- track --id DEMO-1001 --verbose
npm run typecheck

Debugging workflow

  1. Pick a fixture id — start with DEMO-1001 (offline fixture in tests/fixtures/).
  2. Run with --verbose — confirm timeline order and next-action copy; watch for raw status codes leaking to stdout.
  3. Isolate the layer:
    • CLI parse error → fix argument parsing first (exit 1).
    • Adapter throws → check fixture path and carrier mapping (exit 2).
    • Formatting wrong → fix formatTimeline() / next-action mapping only.
  4. Add a failing test — capture the bug as a table-driven case before fixing.

Checklist before you finish

  • Output is plain language (“Out for delivery today” not OFD)
  • Verbose mode redacts tokens and full addresses
  • npm test passes for the carrier you touched

Common mistakes

  • Calling live carrier APIs during local dev — use fixtures unless explicitly testing integration.
  • Logging full tracking URLs — strip query tokens in verbose output.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
