monorepo-add-python-service

monorepo-add-python-service is a skill for Claude Code from lukedj78/dev-flow. It costs 260 tokens per session (3,004 once invoked), scanned C, original, MIT.

A setup helper that adds a Python web service to a JavaScript monorepo. A monorepo keeps several related applications in one repository, while FastAPI is a Python framework for building web APIs.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to add a FastAPI service managed by uv, including a generic HTTP service or a vision and OCR service, to a Turborepo project.
Why use it?
It connects the Python service to the repository's shared package, task, and build setup, and generates a TypeScript client so web applications do not need to hand-write requests.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00260 $0.03004
Opus 5.5 $0.00104 $0.01202
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00052 $0.00601
Haiku 4.5 $0.00026 $0.00300

Security

Grade C, and why

monorepo-add-python-service scanned grade C with 2 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 3 executable files (scripts/check_python_service.py, scripts/scaffold_python_service.sh, scripts/test_scaffold_python_service.sh), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

monorepo-add-python-service — a Python app in a JS monorepo, joined at the task graph

Some work does not belong in Node: a vision model, an OCR pipeline, anything whose ecosystem is Python. The instinct is a second repository, and it costs you the thing a monorepo is for — one install, one task graph, one CI, one version of the contract between the two sides.

This skill puts a FastAPI service in apps/<name>/, managed by uv, joined to the monorepo through two seams and no others:

  1. a minimal package.json whose scripts shell out to uv run — turbo runs scripts and does not care what is behind them;
  2. a generated TypeScript client in packages/api/src/<name>/, so a schema change breaks apps/web's typecheck instead of its users.

Why a package.json bridge and not turbo's native Python support

Turborepo does discover uv workspace members natively — and it is behind a future flag, and its own documentation says: "uv support is experimental and can change at any time. We encourage you to try it out in side projects, proof-of-concepts, and other environments where stability is not essential." (Python (Experimental))

It also requires the repository root to become a uv workspace — a root pyproject.toml, a root uv.lock, [tool.turbo].name — which changes what monorepo-bootstrap writes, for every project, to serve one app.

So this skill takes the stable path: the Python app stays a plain pnpm workspace member with a scripts-only package.json, and everything Python-shaped stays inside apps/<name>/. Revisit when the flag graduates — references/turbo-integration.md carries the migration note.

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

monorepo-add-python-service is a skill published in the GitHub repository lukedj78/dev-flow (6 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 260 tokens to every session and 3,004 once invoked, about $0.0010 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it C with 2 findings (downloads and executes remote code, makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-12.
