wireframe-canvas

wireframe-canvas is a skill for Claude Code from lukedj78/dev-flow. It costs 249 tokens per session (2,849 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A UI planning workflow that turns a product brief into a list of screens and reviewed desktop and phone wireframes. A wireframe is a visual layout sketch made before the interface is coded.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it on projects with a user interface to map user stories to screens, draw desktop and phone artboards, document the design, and track approval.
Why use it?
It helps reveal missing screens and routes before implementation, so the user can approve the interface plan before scaffolding or feature code begins. It also records the screen inventory for later work.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00249 $0.02849
Opus 5.5 $0.00100 $0.01140
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00050 $0.00570
Haiku 4.5 $0.00025 $0.00285

Measured 8d ago against content hash 0c1f31a26f29, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

wireframe-canvas scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 3 executable files (scripts/meta_io.py, scripts/test_wireframes.py, scripts/wireframes.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 165 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

wireframe-canvas — every screen, drawn and approved, before any code

A standing rule of the user's (2026-10-10): no feature code and no scaffold until every screen of the product exists as an artboard and the user has approved the set. A screen discovered while coding costs a route, a layout and a review; on the canvas it costs a frame. And the issue tracker gets the overall picture, so whoever picks up an issue sees the screen it builds.

Contract

See references/contracts.md (vendored from dev-flow). Key facts:

  • Reads .workflow/PRD.md (the US-N stories), .workflow/tasks.md, .workflow/DESIGN.md, meta.json#stack.
  • Writes docs/wireframes/screen-inventory.md, docs/wireframes/png/<ID>-desktop.png / <ID>-phone.png, and meta.json#wireframes through scripts/wireframes.py — never by hand.
  • Does not bump phase. It appends history. The scaffold skill bumps it, and set-phase refuses to cross into monorepo_initialized / scaffolded until wireframes is approved or skipped with a reason (dev-flow/scripts/wireframes_gate.py). Projects already past scaffolded are not asked retroactively; show_state.py flags them.
  • Every stack with a UI: next, expo-rn, monorepo. Refuses framework: "agent" — no screens.
  • Needs DESIGN.md first: the artboards are drawn in it, not in a placeholder grey.

Step 1 — The screen inventory

docs/wireframes/screen-inventory.md: every route and screen of every epic, grouped by area (one ## per area, letter-prefixed), one table per area:

## A — Public site

| ID | Screen | Route | Roles | Stories | States |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A1 | Home (hero, search, featured trips) | `/` | visitor | US-6, US-48 | L |
| A2 | Destinations index | `/destinations` | visitor | US-55 | L, E |
  • ID is stable (A1, B12): it names the artboards, the PNGs and the issue comments.
  • Stories lists the PRD's US-N; States lists the ones the screen has — L loading, E empty, Er error, S success — or —. Dialogs, sheets, banners and inline cards that change the flow are rows too (Route dialog, overlay, panel).
  • Walk the PRD story by story, then the roles (each role's home, settings, empty first run), then the edges (auth, invite, legal, 404, offline on mobile).

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

It adds 249 tokens to every session and 2,849 once invoked, about $0.0010 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-11.
