nuclei-scan

nuclei-scan is a skill for Claude Code from mahuttha/offensive-recon. It costs 52 tokens per session (1,288 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

Template-based security scanning for an approved website or IP address using Nuclei, a tool that checks targets against known vulnerability patterns.

In plain words
What is it for?
Checking an authorized target with custom university templates, the full community template library, or filters for critical and high-severity issues.
Why use it?
It helps find common security weaknesses without writing every check by hand. Scans require confirming the target first.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00052 $0.01288
Opus 5 $0.00026 $0.00644
Sonnet 5 $0.00010 $0.00258
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00129

Security

Grade A, and why

nuclei-scan scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Nuclei Scan — Template-Based Vulnerability Assessment

Run template-based vulnerability scanning using Nuclei against an authorized target.

Decision Loop: In-the-Loop (target approval required before scanning)

Safety — MUST Confirm Before Scanning

Before executing ANY scan:

  1. Display the target and template set to the user
  2. Ask for explicit confirmation: "ยืนยันการสแกนเป้าหมาย (Confirm scan target): <target>?"
  3. Do NOT proceed without user approval

Arguments

Parse the user's input for:

  • <target> — URL or IP (REQUIRED)
  • --mode — Template selection mode (default: ncsa)
  • --templates — Custom template path override

Scan Modes

Mode Templates Description
ncsa scanner_configs/ncsa/*.yaml NCSA Website Security Standard v1.0 templates (6 custom)
full All community templates Full Nuclei template library
critical -s critical Critical severity only
high -s critical,high Critical + High severity

NCSA Templates

If you have custom NCSA templates, set the NUCLEI_NCSA_TEMPLATES environment variable:

export NUCLEI_NCSA_TEMPLATES="/path/to/your/ncsa-templates/"

Check for existing NCSA templates:

ls -la ${NUCLEI_NCSA_TEMPLATES:-./scanner_configs/ncsa/}*.yaml 2>/dev/null || echo "No NCSA templates found — will use community templates"

Execution

After user confirmation, run:

NCSA_TEMPLATES="${NUCLEI_NCSA_TEMPLATES:-./scanner_configs/ncsa/}"

case "<mode>" in
  ncsa)
    nuclei -u "<target>" -t "${NCSA_TEMPLATES}" -jsonl -o /tmp/nuclei-output.jsonl 2>&1 | tee /tmp/nuclei-console.txt

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

nuclei-scan is a skill published in the GitHub repository mahuttha/offensive-recon (4 stars, last pushed 6mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 52 tokens to every session and 1,288 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
