cindy-plugin-creator

cindy-plugin-creator is a skill for Codex from makecindy/cindy. It costs 48 tokens per session (1,533 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A guide for creating and maintaining Cindy plugins, which are add-ons packaged with a manifest file and source code. It covers implementation, debugging, packaging, publishing, and questions about the host API.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps build a new plugin, edit an existing one, inspect its manifest and source, choose a starter template, and prepare it for packaging or publication.
Why use it?
It reduces guesswork about the correct plugin structure, permissions, sandbox limits, and packaging process. For existing plugins, it helps preserve compatible behavior instead of starting from assumptions.

About the project

Cindy is an open-source local AI agent that combines coding harnesses, language models, tools, memory, and skills to complete work across files, applications, browsers, computers, and phones. Its desktop and mobile client lets users switch between Claude Code, Codex, other models, and connected services while keeping task context continuous. The catalogue instructions relate to operating or developing this agent.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00048 $0.01533
Opus 5.5 $0.00019 $0.00613
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00010 $0.00307
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00153

Security

Grade A, and why

cindy-plugin-creator scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Cindy Plugin Creator

Build a Cindy plugin from the user's request, or update an existing plugin. This Skill and its references are the authoring documentation shipped with the current Cindy host. Use these contracts instead of guessing APIs from a different release. Keep the user's language for discussion.

Workflow

  1. Read the authoring overview, design alignment, structure, and manifest and capabilities. For an existing plugin, inspect its ghost.json and source first. Ask only about decisions the request leaves open; use option cards when available. Summarize the intended behavior, UI, permissions and acceptance criteria before implementation, following the design reference.
  2. Before writing code, read the sandbox boundaries and packaging workflow. Read the capability references below as needed; do not load the whole manual at once.
  3. For a new plugin, prefer ghost_forge_scaffold with the appropriate plain, agent-action, node-json-rpc or node-mcp template, then edit the generated files. For an existing plugin, preserve its identity, data and compatible behavior. Use schemaVersion: 3 for new manifests and declare the first stable Cindy version actually required.
  4. Implement and validate the requested behavior, including Light and Dark modes for any UI. Separate current Agent tool-call operations from autonomous plugin capabilities, as described in the manifest and Agent-call references. Use tool discovery and manuals for authoring the plugin's own discovery and workflow documentation.
  5. Call ghost_forge_pack to validate and produce the .cindy artifact. Report what was tested and what remains unverified. Packaging does not install or publish: use ghost_forge_install only when installation is requested, and follow publishing when publication is requested.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
