statistical-analysis-and-experiments

statistical-analysis-and-experiments is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from makifbaysal/tasktrooper. It costs 52 tokens per session (1,707 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A guide to designing and analysing experiments such as A/B tests, where two groups receive different versions to compare an outcome. It covers effect sizes, uncertainty, sample size, data quality checks, and limits on causal claims.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to plan experiments, calculate power or sample size, check for sample-ratio problems, and report differences with confidence intervals. It also helps assess whether a result supports a cause-and-effect statement.
Why use it?
A statistical result can look convincing while being caused by too little data, uneven groups, repeated comparisons, or a flawed design. This guide helps distinguish a real measurable difference from noise or bias.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00052 $0.01707
Opus 5.5 $0.00021 $0.00683
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00010 $0.00341
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00171

Security

Grade A, and why

statistical-analysis-and-experiments scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Statistical Analysis and Experiments

Overview

A statistical claim is a decision under uncertainty. The analysis has to say how big the effect is, how sure we are, and what could make it wrong — not just whether p < 0.05. The statistics code is production code too: it gets tests.

Core principle: decide the design (metric, unit, sample size, stopping rule) before looking at results; report effect size with a confidence interval; treat every causal-sounding sentence as a claim that needs a design behind it.

1. Describe before you test

  • Report mean and median for business metrics; a large gap means skew and the mean alone misleads.
  • Use percentiles (p5, p25, p50, p75, p95, p99) and the IQR for skewed data, standard deviation for roughly symmetric data.
  • State shape, bounds (a floor at zero, a ceiling at 100%) and how outliers were handled. Never drop outliers silently: classify them as data errors (fix or exclude, with a count), genuine extremes (keep, use robust statistics) or a different population (segment).

2. Design an experiment before it runs

Write these down, in the task or your closing message, before analysing anything:

Item Example
Hypothesis New checkout raises conversion
Primary metric (one) Orders / visitors, per user
Guardrails Refund rate, page latency
Randomisation unit = analysis unit User (not session, not page view)
Minimum detectable effect +1.0 percentage point on a 10% baseline
α, power 0.05 two-sided, 0.80
Sample size and duration Computed below; whole weeks to cover weekly cycles
Stopping rule Analyse once at the planned sample size
from statsmodels.stats.power import NormalIndPower
from statsmodels.stats.proportion import proportion_effectsize

effect = proportion_effectsize(0.11, 0.10)
n_per_arm = NormalIndPower().solve_power(effect_size=effect, alpha=0.05, power=0.8, ratio=1.0)

If the traffic cannot reach n_per_arm in a reasonable time, say so before the test runs — an underpowered test produces noise and exaggerated "wins".

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

statistical-analysis-and-experiments is a skill published in the GitHub repository makifbaysal/tasktrooper (113 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 52 tokens to every session and 1,707 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-09.
