react-conventions

react-conventions is a skill for Claude Code from makigjuro/cloudstack-ai-plugins. It costs 39 tokens per session (757 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of rules for building and editing React and TypeScript frontends. It covers shared API calls, typed data, state management, components, and where files belong.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when creating or changing React components, API services, authentication handling, or client-side state. TypeScript adds checks to catch mismatched data before the code runs.
Why use it?
It prevents each part of a frontend from handling network requests, errors, authentication, and state in a different way. Consistent rules make the code easier to extend and maintain.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00039 $0.00757
Opus 5.5 $0.00016 $0.00303
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00008 $0.00151
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00076

Security

Grade A, and why

react-conventions scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

React Frontend Rules

These rules apply to React + TypeScript frontend code. Adapt paths based on the project's cloudstack.json frontend.path setting (default: web).

API Client

  • Centralize HTTP calls through a single API client (Axios instance, fetch wrapper, or similar)
  • Request interceptor adds auth: JWT Bearer token or API key header from auth store
  • Response interceptor handles 401 -> redirect to login
  • All API calls should be typed — Promise<T> return types, no implicit any
  • Define an error class or type with code, status, and details fields for consistent error handling

API Services

  • Organize by domain: one file per resource (e.g., users.api.ts, orders.api.ts, products.api.ts)
  • Functions return typed Promise<T>
  • Use URLSearchParams for query parameters
  • Pagination via standard params (e.g., pageNumber and pageSize or page and limit)
  • Response mapping functions to convert API shapes to frontend types when needed
  • If the project uses multi-tenancy, apply tenant scoping consistently across all API calls

State Management

Server State

Use TanStack Query (React Query), SWR, or RTK Query — whichever the project uses:

  • TanStack Query:

    • One hook per query/mutation: useUsers(), useCreateUser()
    • Query hooks: useQuery({ queryKey: [...], queryFn: ... })
    • Mutation hooks: useMutation({ mutationFn: ..., onSuccess: ... })
    • Invalidate queries on mutations: queryClient.invalidateQueries({ queryKey: [...] })
    • Stale time: 30-60 seconds, refetch intervals: 60 seconds for live data
  • SWR:

    • Use useSWR for reads, useSWRMutation for writes
    • Use mutate for cache invalidation
  • RTK Query:

    • Define endpoints in API slices with createApi
    • Use generated hooks (useGetUsersQuery, useCreateUserMutation)

Client State

Use Zustand, Redux, Jotai, or whatever the project uses:

  • Auth store: stores user info, tokens, authentication state
  • Persist to localStorage with selective field storage (don't persist sensitive data unnecessarily)
  • Keep client state minimal — prefer server state for anything fetched from APIs

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
