Marin is an open-source research program, software platform, and community for developing foundation models such as large language models. Researchers use it for data preparation, tokenization, pretraining, posttraining, evaluation, and related experiments, including work on audio-text, DNA, and protein models. The catalogue entries are add-ons that support workflows around Marin.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00025 | $0.01286 |
| Opus 5.5 | $0.00010 | $0.00514 |

Grade A, and why
use-echo scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 15d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 151 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Use Echo
Use this entry point for prior-work search and knowledge publication. For live incidents, read incident records, which defines when to publish, how to format the record, and how to update it. Ordinary search does not require publishing a note.
Search Echo before rediscovering prior work. Cite canonical Echo, GitHub, or Discord URLs for the evidence you use.
Treat one incident, debugging session, or research question as one logical investigation across continuation turns. Search once when that investigation starts, then reuse relevant results already fetched in the conversation. Do not search again merely because the user asks a follow-up question or requests the next operational step. Search again only when the incident, question, repository scope, or freshness requirement changes, when a selected workflow requires a current duplicate check, or when the user explicitly asks.
Search
Use a natural-language federated search:
uv run infra/marina/apps/echo/cli.py search "how do I diagnose a stalled TPU collective" --limit 10
Search covers wiki, file, pr, and issue by default. Repeat --domain to
select a subset.
File search infers the configured Marin-community repository from the current
Git checkout, including ordinary contributor forks. Pass --repository <owner/repo> to choose one configured repository or --repository all to
search all six. The CLI prints the resolved file scope once. Searches that omit
the file domain work outside a Git checkout.
Discord is excluded by default because messages may be noisy or untrusted. Add
--domain discord only when discussion history is relevant, and open the
canonical URL when surrounding thread context matters.
Fetch a result's full detail with the value in the SOURCE ID column:
uv run infra/marina/apps/echo/cli.py get <source-id>
The GRADE KEY column is for feedback. get also accepts file grading keys
with numeric suffixes, such as file:20849.
What ships with it
1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

use-echo is a skill published in the GitHub repository marin-community/marin (4,074 stars, last pushed today), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 25 tokens to every session and 1,286 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-23.
