imgflip-memes

imgflip-memes is a skill for Claude Code from mariokernich/imgflip-mcp. It costs 81 tokens per session (456 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for creating real memes with Imgflip tools. Imgflip is an online service with meme templates that can be captioned to make images.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it for meme requests: select a suitable template, add short captions, and return the resulting image and links.
Why use it?
It defines a repeatable way to choose a template and create a meme when the user asks for one, including reaction images and jokes as pictures.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00081 $0.00456
Opus 5 $0.00041 $0.00228
Sonnet 5 $0.00016 $0.00091
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00046

Security

Grade A, and why

imgflip-memes scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Creating memes with imgflip-mcp

When the user asks for a meme, use the imgflip MCP server's tools. Do NOT hand-draw a meme (no SVG, HTML/CSS, canvas, Mermaid or ASCII art) — the whole point is a real meme image hosted on imgflip.com.

Workflow

  1. Pick a template. Call get_memes — with name_filter if the user named a format (e.g. "drake", "two buttons"), otherwise browse the list and choose the template whose format best fits the joke. Note the template's box_count.
  2. Caption it. Call caption_image:
    • box_count = 2 → pass text0 (top) and text1 (bottom)
    • box_count > 2 → pass a boxes array with one { "text": … } entry per box, in template order (omit coordinates — auto-placement works)
  3. Share the result. The tool returns the image inline plus url and page_url. Show the image/URL to the user with a one-line description.

Notes

  • Keep captions short and punchy — meme text, not paragraphs.
  • If a caption attempt reads badly, iterate: same template, tighter text, or a different template. Each attempt is one cheap tool call.
  • If the tools are missing, the imgflip MCP server isn't connected — tell the user to check claude mcp list instead of silently falling back to drawing something.
  • Generated memes are publicly accessible on imgflip.com — warn the user before putting sensitive content into captions.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
