privacy-manifest

privacy-manifest is a skill for Claude Code from markdavidgan/apple-dev-skills. It costs 97 tokens per session (1,905 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide to Apple privacy manifest files, which declare an app's data collection, tracking domains, and use of certain APIs for App Store review.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when adding or checking PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy files, documenting collected data and tracking, and declaring approved reasons for required APIs.
Why use it?
It helps developers provide the declarations Apple requires so builds are less likely to be rejected during app submission.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00097 $0.01905
Opus 5 $0.00048 $0.00953
Sonnet 5 $0.00019 $0.00381
Haiku 4.5 $0.00010 $0.00191

Security

Grade A, and why

privacy-manifest scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Privacy Manifests & Required-Reason APIs

Declare data use and justify required-reason APIs so the build passes App Review. Missing or incomplete manifests cause hard rejections (ITMS-91053, ITMS-91061) at upload/processing time — often after a "successful" upload (see asc-submission async failures). Run this before submitting.

A privacy manifest is a property list named PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy added to a target (and required in each SDK/framework, not just the app). It declares four things.

  1. NSPrivacyTracking (Bool) — does the app/SDK track per ATT?
  2. NSPrivacyTrackingDomains (array) — domains that perform tracking. Must be empty if NSPrivacyTracking is false. Find them with the App Privacy Report / Instruments Network instrument.
  3. NSPrivacyCollectedDataTypes (array) — what data you collect, whether it's linked to identity, whether it's used for tracking, and the purposes. This feeds the App Store privacy nutrition label.
  4. NSPrivacyAccessedAPITypes (array) — each required-reason API category you call, plus approved reason codes.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
