room

room is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from MarkDonish/round-table-workspace. It costs 51 tokens per session (1,245 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A repository-specific dispatcher for stateful round-table discussions between coding agents. It responds to commands such as /room, /focus, /summary, and /upgrade-to-debate.

In plain words
What is it for?
Running repository-aware agent conversations, adding or removing participants, focusing a discussion, producing summaries, and handing a room discussion over to a debate.
Why use it?
It provides a defined way to start, manage, summarize, and change collaborative agent discussions within this project.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00051 $0.01245
Opus 5 $0.00026 $0.00622
Sonnet 5 $0.00010 $0.00249
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00125

Measured 4d ago against content hash 01cae80a85a3, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

room scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

/room Project Skill Adapter

This is the Claude Code project-skill entry for /room.

It is an adapter, not the canonical implementation source. The canonical /room sources remain:

  • AGENTS.md
  • docs/protocol-spec.md
  • .codex/skills/room-skill/SKILL.md
  • .codex/skills/room-skill/WORKFLOW.md
  • .codex/skills/room-skill/runtime/README.md
  • docs/room-runtime-status.md
  • docs/room-runtime-bridge.md
  • docs/host-adapter-architecture.md
  • docs/room-architecture.md
  • docs/room-selection-policy.md
  • docs/room-chat-contract.md
  • docs/agent-registry.md
  • docs/room-to-debate-handoff.md
  • schemas/room-session.schema.json
  • schemas/room-to-debate-handoff.schema.json
  • prompts/room-selection.md
  • prompts/room-chat.md
  • prompts/room-summary.md
  • prompts/room-upgrade.md

If this file conflicts with those sources, follow those sources and report the mismatch.

Self-Contained Path Resolution & Fallback

This skill adapter is 100% self-contained and portable:

  • Primary path resolution uses repo-relative paths (e.g. docs/..., prompts/..., schemas/...).
  • Canonical absolute path fallback: When running outside the repository root or in global host contexts, resolve all referenced files against /Users/markdonish/round-table-workspace/ (e.g. /Users/markdonish/round-table-workspace/docs/protocol-spec.md).
  • All protocols, schemas, and prompt specifications are fully contained within this repository.

Trigger Boundary

Use this skill only for explicit room mode:

  • /room <topic>
  • /focus <focus text>
  • /summary
  • /upgrade-to-debate
  • /add <agent>
  • /remove <agent>
  • continuation inside an already active /room context

Do not use this skill for ordinary chat, single-agent advice, or /debate unless /room is explicitly handing off through a packet.

Operating Rules

  1. Treat /room as a stateful orchestrator, not as a personality.
  2. Keep the runtime bridge as the only state writer.
  3. Do not let prompt files mutate room state directly.
  4. Do not use reports/ or artifacts/ as active implementation source.
  5. Do not require provider URLs for the local mainline.
  6. Prefer repo-relative paths over machine-local absolute paths.
  7. If the user wants to upgrade, pass only a valid handoff packet into /debate.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

room is a skill published in the GitHub repository MarkDonish/round-table-workspace (2 stars, last pushed 20d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 51 tokens to every session and 1,245 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
