oscal-profile

oscal-profile is a skill for Claude Code from metaschema-framework/claude-plugins. It costs 24 tokens per session (1,942 once invoked), scanned A, original, CC0-1.0.

A security-baseline document that selects and adjusts controls from one or more OSCAL catalogs or profiles. OSCAL is a standard format for exchanging cybersecurity and compliance information.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create baselines such as FedRAMP or CMMC levels and to organize the controls a system must implement.
Why use it?
It keeps the exact security requirements for a system in one reusable baseline, including selected controls, changed settings, and extra guidance.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00024 $0.01942
Opus 5 $0.00012 $0.00971
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00388
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00194

Security

Grade A, and why

oscal-profile scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

OSCAL Profile Model

The Profile model enables selecting, organizing, and tailoring controls from catalogs to create security baselines. Profiles can import from catalogs or other profiles.

Related skills:

  • oscal-catalog - Control definitions that profiles select from
  • oscal-ssp - System Security Plans that implement profile baselines

Purpose

A profile:

  • Selects specific controls from source catalogs
  • Tailors controls by modifying parameters, adding constraints, or supplementing guidance
  • Organizes controls into custom groupings
  • Creates baselines like FedRAMP Low/Moderate/High

Common Profiles

Profile Based On Description
FedRAMP Low NIST 800-53 Low-impact cloud systems
FedRAMP Moderate NIST 800-53 Moderate-impact cloud systems
FedRAMP High NIST 800-53 High-impact cloud systems
CMMC Level 2 NIST 800-171 Contractor cybersecurity maturity

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
