design-concepts

design-concepts is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from mevans2120/design-suite-claude-skills. It costs 118 tokens per session (5,078 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A design-exploration guide for creating mockups, wireframes, mood boards, and other visual directions before building the final interface.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for exploring UI concepts, prototypes, visual styles, and design variations.
Why use it?
It helps teams compare ideas and agree on a direction before spending time implementing it.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00118 $0.05078
Opus 5 $0.00059 $0.02539
Sonnet 5 $0.00024 $0.01016
Haiku 4.5 $0.00012 $0.00508

Security

Grade A, and why

design-concepts scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 13d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Design - Concepts

This skill guides Claude through creating conceptual designs that bridge research insights and production-ready code. Concepts communicate design direction, explore visual possibilities, and validate approaches before implementation.

Core Methodology

Purpose of Concept Design

Concept design is NOT final design - it's exploration and communication:

  • Explore possibilities: Test multiple visual directions quickly
  • Communicate intent: Show stakeholders what "good" could look like
  • Validate approach: Get feedback before investing in implementation
  • Build alignment: Create shared understanding of design direction

Concept Design Process

  1. Brief Review: Understand goals, constraints, research insights
  2. Design Intent Interview: Uncover emotional and experiential goals
  3. Inspiration & Research: Gather visual references from diverse sources
  4. Lens Selection: Choose conceptual lenses that fit the project context
  5. Initial Concepts: Develop 3 distinct concepts through chosen lenses (unless told otherwise)
  6. Presentation: Create artifacts that tell the story and invite feedback
  7. Refinement (if needed): Iterate on the chosen direction

Why Multiple Concepts?

Creating 3 concept variations is standard design practice when initially exploring:

  • Divergent exploration: Shows different strategic approaches, not just visual variations
  • Better decisions: Stakeholders choose between meaningful alternatives
  • Reduced bias: Multiple options prevent "approve this" vs. "which solves the problem best?"

When to create 3 concepts vs. 1:

  • 3 concepts: First time designing a product/feature, exploring strategic direction, major redesigns
  • 1 concept: Refining a chosen direction, iterating based on feedback, minor updates

What makes concepts "different"?

  • Different information architecture
  • Different interaction models
  • Different navigation patterns
  • Different content priorities
  • Different emotional registers / aesthetic languages

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

design-concepts is a skill published in the GitHub repository mevans2120/design-suite-claude-skills (11 stars, last pushed 5mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 118 tokens to every session and 5,078 once invoked, about $0.0006 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
