mhl-workflows

mhl-workflows is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from mh-language/mhl-core-runtime. It costs 51 tokens per session (2,957 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

Design mhl pipeline and workflow declarations. Use for step structure, pipeline vs workflow, goto and route, loop and repeat, parallel, spawn and wait, pause and resume, checkpoints, typed signatures, output projection and lifecycle hooks.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00051 $0.02957
Opus 5.5 $0.00020 $0.01183
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00010 $0.00591
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00296

Security

Grade A, and why

mhl-workflows scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 351 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

mhl workflows

The executable unit of mhl. Assumes the mhl-language skill. The design question behind every rule here: what happens when this step runs twice? mhl checkpoints between steps and gives at-least-once execution, so a step can always repeat.

Choose the declaration

Need Declaration
Steps run top to bottom, each once pipeline
Branching, retry cycles, a state machine workflow (allows goto)
Repeat until a condition holds loop pipeline or loop workflow
Same flow, two entry points differing in a few inputs workflow B = A with { level: Level.x }
Shared flow with no entry point of its own internal workflow
One workflow split across files partial workflow

Start with pipeline. Move to workflow when a real branch appears: pipeline is a promise to the reader that it runs top to bottom.

Anatomy

Keep this order: description, inputs, const/var/mem, hooks, output, steps.

type ReviewInput = { diff: string, base?: string }
type ReviewOutput = { approved: bool, summary: string }

agent Reviewer {
    command: "echo"
    args: ["${prompt}"]
}

tool Verdict {
    is_clean(review: string): bool -> !review.contains("BLOCKER")
}

workflow ReviewChange(req: ReviewInput): ReviewOutput {
    description: "Reviews a diff and reports whether it can merge."

    var review = ""
    var approved = false

    output: {
        approved: approved
        summary: review
    }

        var base = req.base ?? "main"

    }

    step Decide {
        self.approved = Verdict.is_clean(review)
        if (!self.approved) goto Reject
        complete()
    }

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

mhl-workflows is a skill published in the GitHub repository mh-language/mhl-core-runtime (9 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 51 tokens to every session and 2,957 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-11-07.
