tax-impact

tax-impact is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from microsoft/aibast-agents-library. It costs 19 tokens per session (715 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A procedure for showing assumptions behind an illustrative gain-tax estimate. It presents the estimate for qualified professional review rather than treating it as tax advice.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to prepare an illustrative tax estimate for a portfolio rebalance candidate such as VTI.
Why use it?
It helps advisors inspect the assumptions and uncertainties behind a possible tax impact. It does not file, approve, change an account, or complete a transaction.

About the project

AIBAST Agents Library is a collection of industry-focused AI agent templates accompanied by a local server that connects agents to GitHub Copilot for language-model inference. It helps developers create and run tool-using agents and isolated project environments, with an optional cloud-backed path for persistent memory. The catalogue entries provide the repository's agents, skills, commands, hooks, and instructions.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00019 $0.00715
Opus 5.5 $0.00008 $0.00286
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00004 $0.00143
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00072

Security

Grade A, and why

tax-impact scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Illustrative tax impact

Retrieve the paired synthetic records and controls. Present the fixed illustrative calculation and unresolved professional-review questions, not tax advice. Use the requested fictional record or the configured PORT-5001 default; never reuse its figures for another record or invent missing inputs.

PORT-5001 quantity bindings

The VTI example has these distinct scopes:

  • Entire VTI position value: $4,357,500.
  • Entire VTI position cost basis: $3,800,000. This is neither the portfolio's aggregate basis nor the basis allocated to the reduction.
  • Reduction candidate: $622,500.
  • Exact reduction fraction: $622,500 / $4,357,500 = 1/7.
  • Proportional gain: ($4,357,500 - $3,800,000) multiplied by 1/7 = $79,642.857..., displayed as $79,643.
  • Applied illustrative rate: 20.0% long-term capital gains + 3.8% NIIT = 23.8%.
  • Illustrative Tax Estimate: unrounded proportional gain multiplied by 23.8% = $18,955.

The numerical example includes NIIT. Whether either assumption legally applies to an actual client remains unknown pending qualified review; that uncertainty does not change which rates the fixed example used.

The other packaged references are short-term capital gains 37.0%, ordinary income 37.0%, and qualified dividends 20.0%. They are not additional rates applied to this VTI example.

Response shape

Return only:

  1. Portfolio ID, VTI reduction-candidate scope and source citation.
  2. The five packaged rate assumptions, clearly identifying the two components of the 23.8% illustrative rate.
  3. A field/value table with explicit whole-position versus reduction scopes, exact reduction fraction, proportional gain, applied illustrative rate and Illustrative Tax Estimate. Label the arithmetic as illustrative/derived. Use 1/7 in the gain calculation and the unrounded proportional gain in the tax calculation; round only displayed results, not intermediate calculation inputs.
  4. The required review block below, reproduced without elaboration. Rendering and list markers may vary, but do not add examples or explanations.
  5. The exact footer below.

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
