demand-pull

demand-pull is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from microsoft/cat-agent-skills. It costs 59 tokens per session (327 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A document generator that turns an optimised production schedule into a shift-plan draft for a human planner to review.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it at the end of a planning run to prepare a draft showing the sequence, changeovers, material-gated starts, utilisation, and trade-offs.
Why use it?
It provides a consistent written plan without claiming that the plan has been published or that factory systems were updated.

About the project

microsoft/cat-agent-skills is a static website that catalogs reusable instruction sets and related packages for AI agents. People use it to search, filter, rate, and download skills for Cowork, Copilot Studio, and Scout, along with Copilot plugins and Scout automations. The catalogue entries are the skills, instructions, plugins, and settings displayed by the site.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00059 $0.00327
Opus 5.5 $0.00024 $0.00131
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00012 $0.00065
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00033

Security

Grade A, and why

demand-pull scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Demand Pull

Purpose

Normalize the week's demand: open orders with run hours, families, due dates, commitments.

When to use

Start of every planning run.

Inputs

Open-order export (CSV/JSON) with routing run-hours; demand forecast; work-center calendar; material plan; changeover matrix. Emits the entry hop of mfg.production-planning.v1 (schema in contracts/).

Steps

  1. Extract orders: order_id, product, family, run_hours, due_date, committed flag.
  2. Record plan_week, week_start, line; keep the exports' identities as citations.
  3. Validate against the contract; write plan.json (+ workcenter.json, materials.json, changeovers.json passthrough).

Output

plan.json - the entry hop.

Grounding requirements

Every order row cites its export; commitments come from the order record, not from memory.

Constraints

  • Never invent run-hours or due dates; missing routing data stays missing and escalates (#6).
  • No feasibility or sequencing opinions here.

Escalation / uncertainty

Orders missing routing/material rows: record and continue - the engines apply the floor.

Files

What ships with it

3 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
