discussion-insights-for-education

discussion-insights-for-education is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from microsoft/cat-agent-skills. It costs 105 tokens per session (1,369 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A research project brief that keeps literature, methods, collaborator decisions, disagreements, milestones, and open questions in one reviewable record. Literature means published work related to the research topic.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to prepare for a research meeting or milestone, check what was decided, identify disagreements and blockers, and refresh the project record from collaborators' input.
Why use it?
Research information is often spread across messages, files, and meetings. This keeps the current project state together and shows when sources may be out of date.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00105 $0.01369
Opus 5.5 $0.00042 $0.00548
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00021 $0.00274
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00137

Security

Grade A, and why

discussion-insights-for-education scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Discussion Insights for Education

Overview

Aggregates discussion and formative-check evidence into group-level patterns: recurring misconceptions, unanswered questions, and shifts between cycles. It preserves counterevidence and tracks whether the teaching response chosen last cycle actually moved the pattern.

When to Use

  • The user wants themes and misconceptions across a discussion, exit ticket, or question set
  • The user asks whether a teaching change from a prior cycle had an effect
  • The user wants to compare patterns between two class sessions or cycles

When NOT to Use

  • Grading, scoring, or assessing any individual learner
  • Ranking or comparing students in any way
  • One-off summarization of a single meeting transcript — use meeting-intel

Shared Skill Contract

This skill follows the institution's shared contract for every run:

  1. Intent check — confirm outcome, audience, timeframe, and format before working.
  2. Source plan — show the sources selected, their date ranges, access gaps, and freshness.
  3. Clarification gate — ask only for missing information that would change the result.
  4. Staged execution — keep discovery, synthesis, creation, review, and finalization separate.
  5. Reviewable output — separate facts, interpretation, recommendations, assumptions, and open questions.
  6. Human approval — require confirmation before sending, publishing, or changing any record.
  7. Reusable state — carry accepted decisions forward without silently reusing stale assumptions.
  8. Quality check — run the checks below before presenting final output.
  9. Telemetry — log workflow signals only; never sensitive content.
  10. Failure behavior — explain missing access, unsupported sources, uncertainty, and partial completion.

Core Instructions

Step 1: Set the scope

Confirm the class or cohort, the cycle boundaries, and the sources (notes, transcripts, exit-check files). Never request or accept identifiable student records.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
