financial-statement-spread

financial-statement-spread is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from microsoft/cat-agent-skills. It costs 164 tokens per session (3,441 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A historical financial statement spread that extracts borrower figures, checks the arithmetic, standardizes the data, and calculates credit ratios with visible sources and formulas. It is an analysis input, not a forecast or credit decision.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to build Input, Normalized, and Ratios sections from borrower statements, verify extracted figures, document normalization, and calculate historical ratios.
Why use it?
It gives analysts a traceable way to turn tax returns or other statements into comparable figures while keeping reported numbers, adjustments, and calculations separate.

About the project

microsoft/cat-agent-skills is a static website that catalogs reusable instruction sets and related packages for AI agents. People use it to search, filter, rate, and download skills for Cowork, Copilot Studio, and Scout, along with Copilot plugins and Scout automations. The catalogue entries are the skills, instructions, plugins, and settings displayed by the site.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00164 $0.03441
Opus 5.5 $0.00066 $0.01376
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00033 $0.00688
Haiku 4.5 $0.00016 $0.00344

Security

Grade A, and why

financial-statement-spread scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Financial Statement Spread

Turn borrower financial statements into a standardized spread an analyst can audit cell by cell.

Scope

Business-workflow boundary: a standalone historical borrower-credit spread, not an integrated financial model. Source-document assurance, accounting basis, extraction verification, normalization decisions, and credit ratios are mandatory. A user template may replace the credit-spread layout but cannot turn this into historical population of an integrated income-statement/balance-sheet/cash-flow model, forecast linking, or model completion.

Do: extract as-reported figures, verify them arithmetically, normalize to a consistent schema, compute ratios, and show every formula and source.

Do not: assign a risk rating, characterise creditworthiness, judge covenant headroom, project forward, or originate an add-back the borrower did not claim. See the credit-decision gate in references/house-rules.md.

The spread is an input to analysis. The analyst owns the conclusions.

When NOT to Use

  • Populating or completing an integrated three-statement model, including just its historical block — Finance 3-statements if available. Follow references/house-rules.md; do not build that model because Finance is unavailable.
  • Testing figures against a credit agreement — use covenant-compliance-check instead.
  • Writing the memo narrative — use credit-memo-narrative instead.
  • Formatting, charting, or restyling an existing workbook — use xlsx instead.

Quick Start

For "spread this borrower's statements", inventory basis/assurance and units, extract as printed, run supported verification checks, then normalize and compute only supported ratios; never plug an imbalance.

Tool routing

  1. Check actual connector availability; use GetPluginConfig when an expected plugin capability is missing. Do not assume a named vendor or optional Finance skill is connected.
  2. For Microsoft 365 record sets use ExecuteSql; for topic/content discovery use SearchM365. Read located files with ReadFileContent (full for supported document text; download for exact bytes or spreadsheets). Scope reads to the borrower, purpose, and permissions.
  3. Use available configured connector tools for their documented fields. If none supply an item, follow the existing source order and retain the correct gap marker; never claim a tool ran when it did not.
  4. Delegate file construction to xlsx, docx, or pptx as specified below. Inline output is an inline draft, not a saved file. Report a save only from the action tool's successful result.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
