security-research-brief

security-research-brief is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from microsoft/cat-agent-skills. It costs 146 tokens per session (3,682 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A comparison of two company filings, focusing on changes in risk factors, management discussion, and forward-looking guidance. Company filings are official reports that explain financial results, risks, and outlook.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to compare two annual or periodic filings, track changed risk language, and prepare a documented change pack.
Why use it?
It helps reveal changes in how an issuer describes risks and its business outlook without treating a few changed figures as proof of performance. The comparison also records whether both filings were fully covered.

About the project

microsoft/cat-agent-skills is a static website that catalogs reusable instruction sets and related packages for AI agents. People use it to search, filter, rate, and download skills for Cowork, Copilot Studio, and Scout, along with Copilot plugins and Scout automations. The catalogue entries are the skills, instructions, plugins, and settings displayed by the site.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00146 $0.03682
Opus 5.5 $0.00058 $0.01473
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00029 $0.00736
Haiku 4.5 $0.00015 $0.00368

Measured 2d ago against content hash ef7d5ffe8535, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

security-research-brief scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 230 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Quick Start

User: "Compare these two issuer filings and explain the changed risk and MD&A language."

Identify both periods and accessions; compare retrieved passages, gate added/removed claims on symmetric complete coverage, and label metric arithmetic without deriving performance.

Runtime capability checks

Read references/house-rules.md before drafting. "WorkIQ" below names a search capability, not an assumed callable API. Use SearchM365 for M365 content discovery when available and ExecuteSql for supported structured record reads (for example, dated calendar records); inspect the actual tool schema before calling it. Check configured connector capabilities rather than assuming a named provider exists. Public retrieval may use an available direct-fetch tool or the browser; discovery alone is not source evidence. If a capability or destination skill is unavailable, disclose that specific limitation and use the existing upload/gap path, never invent a call or claim it ran. Create files only through the available format skill; otherwise provide the drafted content and state that file creation remains incomplete.

Workflow handoffs — no scope expansion

Only perform the workflow defined in this skill's Scope. For a different job, check that the destination exists and accepts it before handing off; never claim an unavailable skill ran. Do not reinvoke yourself for the current job.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
