trainer-demo-deploy: Skill for Claude Code

.github/skills/az-azure-deploy/SKILL.md

azure-deploy is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from MicrosoftLearning/trainer-demo-deploy. It costs 24 tokens per session (2,742 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

An Azure deployment guide for projects that use Bicep templates and the Azure Developer CLI, or azd. It covers preparation, deployment, checking the result, rollback, and cleanup.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to run Azure deployments, validate deployed resources, roll back failed changes, and clean up environments.
Why use it?
It provides a defined process for deploying infrastructure and handling errors instead of leaving deployment and recovery steps unclear.

This is MicrosoftLearning/trainer-demo-deploy's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and Codex how to work on trainer-demo-deploy itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00024 $0.02742
Opus 5.5 $0.00010 $0.01097
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00005 $0.00548
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00274

Security

Grade A, and why

azure-deploy scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Azure Deploy Skill

Deployment patterns and procedures for Azure infrastructure provisioned via Bicep templates and the Azure Developer CLI (azd). Covers the full deployment lifecycle: pre-flight checks, execution strategies, post-deployment validation, rollback, and cleanup.

[!CAUTION] MANDATORY DEPLOYMENT POLICY

  1. Always attempt deployment: The Deploy agent MUST always attempt azd up. Tooling blockers (missing CLI, extension errors, auth issues) must be resolved or escalated to the user — never used as a reason to autonomously skip deployment.
  2. User decides on failure: If deployment fails for any reason, present the full error to the user and ask for their decision. Never autonomously generate a "dry-run only" or "blocked" summary and move on.
  3. Escalate, don’t absorb: If a pre-deployment gate fails and cannot be auto-fixed, ask the user. Do not silently document the failure and skip ahead.

1. Deployment Strategy Selection

Choose the deployment method based on available project artifacts:

Method When to Use Prerequisites
azd up (preferred) azure.yaml exists in generated-scenarios/{project}/ Azure Developer CLI installed, az login completed

Decision Tree

azure.yaml exists?
├── YES → Use azd up
└── NO → Generate azure.yaml first, then use azd up

2. Azure Developer CLI (azd) Patterns

First-Time Setup

# Verify azd is installed
azd version

# Initialize environment (first time only)
cd generated-scenarios/{project}
azd init

# Set environment name
azd env new {project}-{env}
azd env set AZURE_LOCATION eastus2

azd up — Full Deployment

azd up provisions infrastructure AND deploys application code in one step:

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
