chart-markup

chart-markup is a skill for Claude Code from Miha21222/tradingview-mcp. It costs 72 tokens per session (1,099 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A chart renderer that creates PNG images of candlestick price charts with marked levels, zones, events, sessions, or trade details.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to draw items such as fair value gaps, order blocks, structure breaks, session ranges, text, and trade levels on a chart image.
Why use it?
It gives you a visual way to review scan results or trades while keeping the underlying price data available separately.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00072 $0.01099
Opus 5 $0.00036 $0.00549
Sonnet 5 $0.00014 $0.00220
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00110

Security

Grade A, and why

chart-markup scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Chart rendering with markup

Turn bars + a declarative markup spec into a PNG via tv_chart_render (headless Chromium + Lightweight Charts v5). The chart is an artifact of the numbers — always pair it with the JSON that produced it.

When to use

  • You just ran a scan (the SMC pattern-detection tools) and want to eyeball the structure.
  • You have a backtest trade (or a journal entry) and want its chart.
  • You need a compact visual to attach to a Notion/journal record.

Tools

  • tv_chart_render — the only tool. Everything else feeds it.

  • time/start/end are ISO-8601 UTC and must fall inside the loaded bar range (enlarge count or fix the time if the tool rejects them).
  • fvg/ob: box between top and bottom at time; direction colors it; optional label.
  • line/bos/choch: horizontal level line at level with an optional label.
  • killzone: vertical band from start to end with an optional label.
  • text: free annotation at time + price (1-80 chars).
  • marker: up/down arrow at time + price (entry/exit points); optional label.
  • Every primitive takes an optional color (hex #rrggbb) overriding its default - this is how a user's preferred palette is taught (put their conventions in a skill).
  • grid: true stamps a labeled coordinate grid (the vision aid).
  • Empty markup_json renders candles only.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
