astro-framework

astro-framework is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from monkilabs/opencastle. It costs 56 tokens per session (563 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A framework tool for building Astro websites, including pages, layouts, components, content collections, and integrations. Astro is a web framework that usually sends little or no browser-side JavaScript by default.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create routes and layouts, define collections of content, control when interactive components load, configure static or server-rendered output, and connect integrations.
Why use it?
It helps keep the project structure, content loading, interactive components, and server rendering configured correctly.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00056 $0.00563
Opus 5 $0.00028 $0.00282
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00113
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00056

Measured 4d ago against content hash f666d532a282, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

astro-framework scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (config.ts), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Astro Framework

Gotchas

  • public/ serves assets as-is; src/assets/ goes through the build pipeline. Wrong folder = no optimization, or a broken import.
  • Astro v5+ defines collections in src/content.config.ts (not src/content/config.ts) and requires an explicit loader, e.g. glob({ pattern: '**/*.{md,mdx}', base: './src/content/blog' }).
  • Default is zero client JS. Ship JS only via a client:* directive, and pick the cheapest one that still works: client:load (critical), client:idle (deferred), client:visible (lazy), client:media (breakpoint-gated), client:only (last resort — skips SSR entirely, so no server-rendered HTML).
  • getStaticPaths() is required for dynamic routes in static output; it does not run in output: 'server'.
  • SSR needs both output: 'server' (or 'hybrid') and an adapter (node, vercel, netlify, cloudflare) in astro.config.mjs.
  • Collection schemas are Zod — use z.coerce.date() for frontmatter dates, since raw frontmatter is a string.

Layout

src/pages/ (file-based routes), layouts/, components/, content/, styles/, assets/. API routes: export GET/POST from src/pages/api/*.ts returning new Response(...). Type-safe mutations: defineAction in src/actions/index.ts.

Add a collection

  1. Declare it in src/content.config.ts via defineCollection + Zod schema; export from collections.
  2. Add src/content/<name>/ with one sample file.
  3. Query with getCollection('<name>', filterFn).
  4. The build must exit zero — collection types are generated at build time, so type errors only surface after a build.

Integrations: astro add react tailwind mdx sitemap etc. — never hand-edit the integrations array.

Files

What ships with it

1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

astro-framework is a skill published in the GitHub repository monkilabs/opencastle (61 stars, last pushed 6d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 56 tokens to every session and 563 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
