mastermind-review

mastermind-review is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from monoes/monomind. It costs 46 tokens per session (2,978 once invoked), scanned B, original, Apache-2.0.

A tool for inspecting and managing one recurring job for an organization. A recurring job is work started by a schedule or an HTTP webhook, which is a web request sent to a provided address.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to view a job's configuration, variables, run history, webhook settings, revisions, or trigger details.
Why use it?
It lets you examine how a job starts, how it handles overlapping runs, and what happened in previous runs. It also supports changing stored variables, webhook credentials, and revisions.

Skill for Claude CodeCodex

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one. Also seen: positional $N argument; installed under .agents/ (shared by several agents).

Good fit Use it to view a job's configuration, variables, run history, webhook settings, revisions, or trigger details.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00046 $0.02978
Opus 5.5 $0.00018 $0.01191
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00009 $0.00596
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00298

Measured 2d ago against content hash 0be8a5a6149b, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade B, and why

mastermind-review scanned grade B with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Instruction-override phrasingmediumPrompt injection

Text telling the model to disregard its earlier instructions or safety rules is the shape of a prompt injection, whoever wrote it.

- "ignore all previous instructions" → expect prompt_injection ≥ 0.8

Downgraded: this mod is about security review, or the phrase is quoted, so it is likely naming the pattern rather than instructing it.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 247 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Mastermind Review Domain

This skill is invoked directly via /mastermind:review, or by /mastermind:master (pack extras — monomind packs add extras).

Inputs

  • brain_context: BRAIN CONTEXT block (injected by master, or loaded standalone via mastermind-protocol/SKILL.md brain load)
  • prompt: what to review and what to assess
  • project_name: monotask space name
  • board_id: monotask board ID (set by master, or created standalone)
  • mode: auto | confirm

Flags

Extract these from the raw args before other parsing:

Flag Variable Default Effect
--monofence-ai-check monofence_check false Option C: run monofence-ai self-validation (test suite + adversarial probes)
--monofence-ai-security-deep monofence_deep false Option B: scan LLM-facing input boundaries through monofence-ai

Both flags are off by default. They do not affect non-security review angles.

Complexity Assessment

Assess the prompt to determine execution mode:

Simple (direct execution): Single file or single artifact:

  • "Review this function for bugs"
  • "Check this paragraph for clarity" → Use a single reviewer agent (for code or content). Skip manager delegation.

Complex (spawn Review Manager agent): Any of these:

  • Full codebase or module audit
  • Security review across multiple surfaces
  • Strategy or content review requiring multiple expert perspectives
  • Combined code + architecture + security pass → Spawn Review Manager agent with full briefing.

Standalone Execution (when called without master)

If this skill is invoked directly (not by master):

  1. Load brain context following mastermind-protocol/SKILL.md Brain Load Procedure (namespace: review)
  2. Run intake from mastermind-intake/SKILL.md if prompt is vague
  3. Follow mastermind-protocol/SKILL.md Monotask Space+Board Setup Procedure:
    project_name="${project_name:-$(basename "$PWD")}"
    space_id=$(monotask space list 2>/dev/null | awk -F' \| ' -v n="$project_name" '$2==n{print $1}' | head -1)
    [ -z "$space_id" ] && space_id=$(monotask space create "$project_name" 2>&1 | grep -oE '[0-9a-f]{8}-[0-9a-f]{4}-[0-9a-f]{4}-[0-9a-f]{4}-[0-9a-f]{12}')
    [ -z "$space_id" ] && { echo "ERROR: Could not find or create space '$project_name'"; exit 1; }
    board_id=$(monotask board create "review" --json | jq -r '.id // empty')
    [ -z "$board_id" ] && { echo "ERROR: Failed to create review board"; exit 1; }
    monotask space boards add "$space_id" "$board_id" >/dev/null 2>&1 || true
    todo_col=$(monotask column create "$board_id" "Todo" --json | jq -r '.id')
    doing_col=$(monotask column create "$board_id" "Doing" --json | jq -r '.id')
    done_col=$(monotask column create "$board_id" "Done" --json | jq -r '.id')

  4. Proceed with complexity assessment below
  5. At end: follow mastermind-protocol/SKILL.md Brain Write Procedure (namespace: review)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

mastermind-review is a skill published in the GitHub repository monoes/monomind (23 stars, last pushed 2d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 46 tokens to every session and 2,978 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it B with 1 finding (instruction-override phrasing). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-26.
