mossforge-data-utilities

mossforge-data-utilities is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from mossforge/databroker. It costs 183 tokens per session (5,193 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A collection of pay-per-request utilities for validating, decoding, and looking up identifiers, geographic data, and reference data.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for working with VINs, vehicle plates, IBANs, financial identifiers, cards, barcodes, ISBNs, shipping containers, check digits, distances, geohashes, and related reference lookups.
Why use it?
It helps check whether standard identifiers are well formed and understand what their parts mean. Requests use USDC payments on Base and do not require an account, subscription, or API key.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00183 $0.05193
Opus 5 $0.00092 $0.02596
Sonnet 5 $0.00037 $0.01039
Haiku 4.5 $0.00018 $0.00519

Measured 3d ago against content hash 8179335d7836, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

mossforge-data-utilities scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Not a fault in itself. Listed so you know the mod talks to something, and to what.

MossForge — Data Utilities

Single-purpose validation, decoding, and reference-lookup endpoints, paid per request over x402 with USDC on Base. No account, no subscription, no API key. Each endpoint implements one named standard (ISO 13616, GS1, ISO 6346, IANA tzdb, …) and states it in every response.

This is a different tool from the MOT skills: mossforge-mot-history answers "what's the MOT history of THIS car", mossforge-mot-analytics answers "what's typical for cars LIKE this" — this skill answers "is this identifier valid / what does it decode to / what does this standard say". They compose well: decode a VIN or UK plate here, then pull its history or segment stats with the other skills.

What this skill answers

  • Is this IBAN / ISIN / CUSIP / SEDOL / LEI / card number / ABA routing number structurally valid, and what do its parts mean?
  • Is this VIN well-formed, which region/manufacturer does the WMI map to, and what model years could the year code mean?
  • What era is this UK plate from, and what registration period does its age identifier decode to?
  • When is a GB vehicle's first MOT due, given its first registration date?
  • What are the dimensions, max load, and max speed for tyre code 205/55R16 91V?
  • Validate or compute a check digit under Luhn, Verhoeff, Damm, MOD 97-10, or MOD 11-2.
  • Validate a GTIN/EAN/UPC, ISBN (with 10↔13 conversion), ISSN, ISO 6346 container number, or IMO ship number.
  • Great-circle distance and bearing between two coordinates; destination point from bearing + distance; geohash encode/decode.
  • Which vendor owns this MAC prefix? Which airport is LHR/EGLL? What's the UTC offset in Europe/London on a given date? What are GBP's minor units? What is UN/LOCODE GBLON?

Rule of thumb: at $0.001 a call, paying the endpoint is usually cheaper and safer than writing and testing your own implementation of a checksum or standards table inline.

Prerequisites

  • A dedicated x402 payment wallet (X402_PRIVATE_KEY) — an EVM private key for a wallet used only for x402 micropayments. Same wallet as the other MossForge skills if you're running several. See Security below: do not use a primary or high-value wallet here.
  • USDC on the configured network. Fund the wallet with a small amount of USDC on Base (testnet USDC on Base Sepolia while you evaluate; Base mainnet for production).
  • No API key and no MossForge account are required. Payment is the only auth.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

mossforge-data-utilities is a skill published in the GitHub repository mossforge/databroker (0 stars, last pushed 4d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 183 tokens to every session and 5,193 once invoked, about $0.0009 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
