What is add-connector-action?

A Power Automate flow tool for adding actions from services such as SharePoint, SQL, Outlook, Excel, Teams, and Dataverse. Power Automate is Microsoft's system for building automated workflows.

Adding steps such as reading SharePoint items, sending email, inserting SQL rows, creating Dataverse records, adding Excel rows, or posting to Teams.

It helps add the requested step and manage its connection details without connection-reference errors.

Add a Connector Action

Add a connector action for the following request:

ensure_connection → sync_pull → add_connector_action → validate_flow → sync_push → refresh browser.

Step 1 — Resolve the connector + operation

Map the request to a curated connector (see references/Connectors.md):

Step 2 — Confirm the connection

Call ensure_connection { connector }. If it errors with "not available" / "create connection in maker portal":

You need a connection in this environment. Create one once: Power Automate → Connections → + New connection → sign in. Then give me the connection name (the GUID in the connection's URL: .../connections/shared_<x>/<CONNECTION_NAME>/details).

Step 3 — Gather required inputs

Ask only for required parameters (the tool errors and lists them if missing). Example for SharePoint GetItems: dataset (site URL), table (list/library name or GUID).

Step 4 — Add the action

Call add_connector_action { connector, operationId, inputs, connectionName }. This:

builds an OpenApiConnection action with the correct host (connectionName, operationId, apiId),
declares parameters.$connections in the definition (required, else InvalidTemplate),
returns the connectionRef to pass to sync_push.

Step 5 — Validate and push

validate_flow, then sync_push { connectionReferences: <connectionRef> }.
